yeah, i should have gone with Boo but i'm just not sold on his putting. his putting didn't thrill me a few weeks ago when he was teamed up with JB at the shoot out and i wasn't overly impressed with him at Tiger's tourney either. his length will be a great benefit to him as i hear the course this week will be pretty wet, and there's rain in the forecast for the the weekend.

i like Mahan too, but he didn't win last year so i couldn't pick him this week.

Actually Boo isn't one of the longer hitters. He was outside the top 50 in driving distance. He is known more for his accuracy than distance.

your thoughts on Davis Love this year, BPV?

what can we expect from him?
I really don't know. Health is a funky master. If he's healthy, he can compete well on most courses they play. He says he has been working hard and he can still flat out stomp it.

Healthy, I like him to win. He has good reason to try hard as I believe he's on his lifetime money list exemption.

i'll take Kim or Villegas.

in fact, i think they both will be the stars of 2009. and Serigio will win a major.

Would like to see him win one, but I don't see it happening until he can get his head straight. His putting is still a weakness and he MUST get rid of that "everything is against me" complex. Got to love his ball striking though. As good or better than anyone in the game.

i guess i didn't realize he was that far out. his accuracy will benefit him as well on the wet course.

he's down the list a bit, but he can still hammer it. The spread amongst the top 80 isn't that big.

He used to mash it and has backed it down. The pop is there when he wants it. My father and I were about the only people, along with his family, following him at the FEDEX his first full year on tour and he was flat mashing the golf ball.

Most of them do.

Most of them do.
true. Most have pretty strong pop. Boo had taken his driver out of the bag because it cost him his first round lead. He was hitting his 3 wood like a monster. Don't know if you know # 17 at TPC Southwind, but he hit 3 wood, 3 wood up that hill to about 8 feet and drained it to get back in the tourney on Saturday. On 18 he hit 3 wood 9 iron and that's a beast of a par 4.

That is mind blowing long. I know the holes very well. I played there a couple of years ago and hit a pretty good driver on 18 and still had 175 into the green. Of course, most of these guys hit their irons long as well and many get them bent 1 to 2 degrees strong.

The 9 was from about 150 but it was uphill. Pin was front. He hugged the pond, so that cut some yards off.

Right now I am trying to get my game ready for a national 4-ball tourney over in Pinehurst at Mid-Pines. Weather isn't cooperating though.

3 wood/3 wood was probably on 16?

Looks like Ogilvy should win today, unless he falls apart or Kim gets really hot
Good to see DLIII starting off the season well

I could watch Love hit balls forever. The club never gets to parallel yet he hits it a mile and it looks effortless.

Laruel Valley is usually in pretty good shape. Enjoy....

At least you won't have to deal with the gnats this times of year

first full field of the year today.

my fantasy lineup this week:

KJ Choi
Davis Love III
Sean O'Hair

I like the bench. I'd consider KP or Boo over Luke. I'm not sure, but I don't think he's a Bermuda guy.

KJ and KP are my A-list guys.

Boo, DL3, O'Hair, and Stricker are B-list guys.

Zinger and Luke are C-list guys.

you start 1 from A, 2 from B, and 1 from C. don't ask how they rank them like that because i have no idea. so on Thursday, you're locked in to those 8 guys, and play 4.

you only get to start each guy 10 times, and they're interchangeable within the group throughout the weekend. however, playing in even one round counts as a start.

got it. Didn't know the format. Might consider Zinger. I think he won that tourney by about 400 strokes for his first win post cancer battle.
