we have spent well over 2/3 of this season with Lofton hitting nothing, yet have only lost 2 ballgames.stepete, as a fellow Gator fan, I am not allowed to officially welcome you to the Volnation site. But unofficially, howdy. This is a good place. You will enjoy it. Got to be thick skinned at times, and occassionally self-censor to keep the topic on track, but overall its a go with the flow kinda deal.
As to the substance of your post, I've been telling them this exact same thing for months. The Vols fans by and large acknowledge that they are very dependent on three's and also that it could be a problem in the tournament if they have a bad night from the perimiter. But they do bristle at any comparison (even though its totally valid, IMO) to earlier Gator teams that made an early exit based on a bad shooting night.
Anyone out there paying attention, please listen to me. As Tyler Smith goes, so goes the Vol team. When he is assertive offensively and on the boards, we are a monstrous matchup for anybody. When he doesn't show, the likes of KY actually came back a beat us. The three point shooting matters for sure, but we have pretty good fallback in that Tyler and Ramar provide decent offset. It's not the same as having Hansbrough get 15 FTs per night, but it's better than what Duke has available to it.
