Thursday on MS NOW’s “The Weeknight,” author Stacey Abrams said there were no longer blue states and red states.
Instead, she said that there were only “authoritarian states and democracy states.”

Abrams said, “My parents grew up without the Voting Rights Act. My parents were born in 1949. They were in college before the Voting Rights Act passed. And what we have to understand is that there is no longer blue states and red states, there are authoritarian states and democracy states. There are states that do not believe in the right of the people to have a say, who want to aggregate power and foment corruption. And there are states that want to guarantee that in this country we have free and fair elections. We have access to the remedies that democracy is supposed to deliver, and that no matter what goes wrong in one part of the country, that the quality of your citizenship does not depend on your zip code and your geography. I started the Ten Steps campaign because we’ve got to understand that authoritarianism is a political system designed to achieve ideological ends, and the ideological ends intended by this regime do not include most of us.”

She added, “If you believe that Christian nationalism should be the law of the land, if you want pronatalism, where women are relegated to simply serving as vessels for a man’s intention. If you believe that white supremacy should be allowed to diminish the value of everyone else, then you want authoritarian in states to win. But if you believe in democracy as the currency of America, then you want California and New York. You want every state that’s willing to fight back to do so.”

Somewhere Don Lemon is having a fit for not being the dumbest person on TV.

Most of the people I know, and most in this forum would not live in LA or NYC if their rent was FREE. FREE housing couldn't get me to live in those Leftist shatholes. Abrams has always been an idiot...but to think that Americans are fleeing CA and NYC in droves because of how "great" those Liberal strongholds are is to be completely detached from reality. Most people I know see those cities as clear evidence that Democrat leadership...if you can call that leadership...destroys everything they touch. Dont want that nonsense anywhere around my family. The biggest problem aside from the cities they destroy...is these same clowns (like the 4 or 5 who post here) who voted for all the terrible people that ruined the places they are fleeing, will vote for those same exact policies in their new home cities like Nashville, Austin, Charlotte and all of Flarda. So they will ruin these cities as well. Socialism and income redistribution simply do not work to alleviate poverty. Most poverty is due to incompetence, a lack of self control, ignorance in personal finance, and buying everything on credit because of impatience. No amount of taxes or handouts is gonna fix that.

The new bill, unassumingly named the Parents Decide Act, includes several key requirements that all platform holders would have to recognize if the bill passes. These include:

  • Strict guidelines that state OS platform holders must verify the age of every user when they set up a new device. The bill is clear that it’s not enough to have users self-report their date of birth and age; hard-proof verification is required.
  • Custom content controls that let parents set age-appropriate parameters on their children’s devices. This includes the ability to limit access to social media, apps, and even AI platforms.
  • A pathway to ensure that all apps installed on a device are tuned to adhere to the custom controls in the previous point. No workarounds or exceptions will be allowed.
  • A trusted multi-platform standard that bans children from accessing what the government labels “harmful” or “explicit” content on any device made by any OEM on any software platform. On the surface, this can include adult content and conversations with AI chatbots, although “harmful” or “hateful” speech has taken on different meanings to the left over the years, usually to describe speech that doesn’t align with their views.
To be clear, the Parents Decide Act would require these protections to be built directly into the software of every device — it would become a core feature within iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS. There are questions as to how the government would enforce the bill on open-source Linux, but it will certainly try.
