We can sit around for weeks and debate the hire and evaluate signing classes, but the fact is nobody knows what is going to happen in the SEC in the next 3 years.

Sure, Florida stuck it to everybody in recruiting this year. Need I remind you that was just three weeks after Meyer took retirement?

Things are not as stable as they appear in Baton Rouge or Athens. We honestly have no idea how long Saban will stick around Tuscaloosa, nor do we know how long Meyer can keep his anxiety of playing Saban (again) in check.

The bottom line is that a lot of things can change in a year or two. Buckle your chin straps and enjoy the ride.

On the original topic Lex:

I agree that perspective is sometimes overlooked in sports, football in particular. There is no seeing or foretelling some of the twists in college football three years out, but that fact gets ignored because we usually only think in terms of one season to another.

3 years ago Tennessee won the SEC East. Who could have foreseen that we would be on our third coach in three years, just three years later? People remember the hits and predictions, and forget the misses.

Back to the thread

Should be an interesting year. There are only 2 games we could pencil in as wins right this second, but every other game is winnable (not saying we will, just that we COULD). Florida and bama will be tough, but crap we should have beaten bama last year and the florida game should be a good game especially if we can upset oregon the week before. I'm excited about the season, but I say that every year.

I am definitely excited to see how this staff COACHES. Sure recruiting talented players is important, but coaching wins championships, and honestly no one knows what will happen within the conference in the next few years. I hope it will be a fun ride.

As I recall, the early projections was that the early departure of the former regime would set the football program back at least four years. CDD came in and salvaged a teriffic recruiting class, made some quality staff hires, and seems to have restored some of the respectability to the program. How well that all translates into wins remains to be seen. I sincerely hope that everything works out for the best.

I can't see LSU fans allowing Miles to stick around much longer if he continues to get great talent and do not a whole lot with it...

It really is amazing how bad that staff is at managing the clock.

The thing is, only one team can win the conference in any given year, and there are at least 5 schools that expect to win championships every year, and when a staff doesn't perform...

I cant believe the fans let him get away with throwing players under the bus for his mistakes. I thought he would have more class than that.

I predict Florida's defense will give up more points per game than Vanderbilt's.

Defense as a whole will be down in the top half of the conference I think. LSU in the second year of Chavis, will blow it against somebody they shouldn't.

The SEC West is a *****, im glad TN is in the East

Not like it hasn't happened before, 2007 was the last time.

I will be able to tell more if Louisville stomps Kentucky

Was in Jackson. Moved here in Nov. 2008.

Probably moving again soon. :good!:

Whoa! I thought I was the only Jacksonian on these boards.

Man this town sucks, doesn't it? If I didn't have plans to move to Austin, Memphis would be my second choice.

Anyway, I think Auburn's the other team to beat in the SEC. Anything can happen this year though, there's reconstruction going on left and right.
