No doubt the offense has evolved. Less wide choice. More traditional run game. But the premise is still there. Josh is too busy perfecting an offense and is missing the details that will get UT over the hump.

Name a team where the head coach is also the OC/DC and the team is in contention for a national championship. Maybe you could argue Cignetti at Indiana? But that’s more a case of a good schedule IMO.
