The fact that Arch Manning is not even visiting UT...

I’m not sure why this is surprising at all. Peyton didn’t have any ties to UT when he came here. He chose the Vols because Ole Miss was in the toilet and we gave him the best chance to be successful (at the time we just had a QB go #1 overall in the draft).

You can even look at Eli when he was picked by the Chargers and immediately demanded he be traded because he believed that they would not put him in a situation to be successful.

The Manning boys had a front row seat to what it looks like when you play for an incompetent organization like Archie did when he played for the Saints.
We didn’t have a QB go #1 overall until Manning…

How fast did Archie run the 40? Did they even time him in his day? I think Cooper must have been fast too since he was a WR. Other than those 2, I don’t think there’s a Manning fast gene.
Archie had wheels ….. for end of integrated / infancy of segregated late 60’s CFB😁
For his NFL career he had around 2200 rushing yards and 18 rushing td’s in 13 seasons . The 2200 yards is kind of impressive when you figure in that most of his career with the saints he was probably sacked something like 27 x’s per game

I wonder, is Arch an indication we won't draw elite QBs here until we have an OL that can consistently protect the QB? This is the SEC, the land of defensive player predators. Why go where you'd be killed, skinned, taxidemied, then hung on the goal post as a trophy piece? That's just me wild-thinking as usual, but...

I don’t know how much cocky 5 stars think about getting sacked. I felt invincible and like I would rise above everything at that age. I’m sure it factors but probably isn’t the deciding factor. In arch’s case I think they are very attracted to NFL minds and offenses. Bill O’Brien sark and monken have all called NFL plays. Can’t remember the other teams in his list. But that’s a trend.

I think we're both right. Arch is from a family not only VERY football aware, but QB aware too. So the value of a school that tends to recruit and develop quality OLs, and coaches that are NFL offense orientated is something said family would counsel a QB son. Still, I do believe we're seeing the incursion of spread offenses and uptempo offenses into the pro ranks. And not just as experiments now, but a significant part of team strategy. So NFL offenses won't remain in its current and traditional form for long. Nonetheless, you still need an OL that can consistently keep rabid DLs off the QBs back and out of his face. I hold fast that Arch is mindful of this, and so is father and brothers who have his ear.

So to cover the new perspective on him:
- he's not athletic
- plays weak competition
- anything else people can think of that is a detriment to him because he's not coming. NOT EVEN CONSIDERING coming to Knoxville.

Heupels offense is not suitable for him.
It's not suitable for Tom Brady either.
Does that mean Tom Brady is trash?

Why waste your time just ragging on the kid, when it's not a practical situation for him??🙄.

Eric Crouch would've been a better fit for this offense than Arch's uncles would have been.
Because of the run threat and simple throws.
Not to mention Option QBs are quick decision makers based off what the defense gives them, and that translates into our routing concept (read the zone).

Good luck to Arch at Texas or wherever. As long as it's not Bama.

I think you’re right that he is mindful of it. I think he has better support around him than most 5 star QBs that constantly have people gassing them up. Also, I think the last instance of simple concepts fast paced offense in the NFL was chip Kelley who was good for a year or two, but after he was fired denfenses said yeah we caught on and were calling out their plays before they ran them. NFL offenses have become almost all pro style spread, but with diverse route trees and advanced concepts, I don’t think veer-n-shoot offenses will ever make a return to the NFL because of hashmarks and the simplicity. But I’m open to changing my mind about that if anyone wants to engage, I watch the playoffs and a few regular season NFL games a year
