Same here. IT 30 years. Until I built my gaming rig earlier this year, I haven't had a true gaming PC in probably 10-15 years. Had my Acer Nitro 5 that had a 1050 in it and for most of the stuff I wanted to play on PC, that was fine. Civilization, GTA, cities skylines. I have always preferred PlayStation for sports games and most FPS games. Anti-cheating is a bit better on console, but modding was always almost nonexistent.25 years in IT, the last 10 in Cyber. Once I broke into that side of the industry, my time in front of the screen when not at work crashed. Granted, I have to keep systems at home for work, but I avoid them wherever possible. Something about going over to this side (at least for me) broke me from wanting to be near a keyboard or monitor. In fact, it’s off and on again with the consoles too.
I haven't played it, but it really seems like a game for people who were fans already. either of the game or the series. they definitely weren't trying to expand their player base.I watched a few people playing it on YouTube. Looks pretty good, but my goodness it looks slow and boring as crap.
Same. I'm in front of a computer all day long. The last thing I want is to sit in front of one when I game. Plus I was in the PC game for several years, but eventually I came back to console. I just like the simplicity of it and when I was into PC gaming, I was relentlessly thinking about upgrading. The idea that I could always upgrade something to eek out more frames or pixels obsessed me, to the point where I cared more about that than just enjoying gaming. God bless those who enjoy PC's, but for me, console will always be king.I'm console for life. Teaching kids nowadays is pretty much just using your computer all class.
Sure, I actually teach them, but still: Their assignments are digital, I have to grade digitally, I even sometimes have to leave videos when I'm out: digitally.
So yeah, I understand PC gaming, and it's fun, but I'm with UTK on this one.
Not to kick off a PC vs console argument, but I think you described more than just the PC side of things. even on consoles people obsess about the newest/shiniest bit. whether that was a new console, or the next iteration of a game that is released yearly with little to no mechanical changes in the game itself.Same. The only thing about consoles I didn't like, is that you were limited to 60 fps. I think PS5 and XBox can kiiiind of do 100 fps now. I think they claim 120 fps, but i don't think they can reliably do that. And after experiencing a140-180 hz monitor with 160+ framerates in most games, I am starting to spend more time on my PC than console. Such a difference. Not to kick off a PC vs console argument, but I think you described more than just the PC side of things. even on consoles people obsess about the newest/shiniest bit. whether that was a new console, or the next iteration of a game that is released yearly with little to no mechanical changes in the game itself.
the PS5 has 4 editions. and isn't even 5 years old. my PC is older than that, I haven't had to tweak it, and I still get better performance.
how many cosmetic microtransactions have been squeezed out of video game players?
I think its just the nature of video games/humans. we always obsess about the next biggest thing, and its not confined to the PC side of it.
unless I do a side by side comparison its honestly usually pretty difficult for me to tell. I don't do much PvP so, it doesn't matter a ton to me for that either. The only thing about consoles I didn't like, is that you were limited to 60 fps. May not be much you can do with it. Probably can't upgrade processor. 6GB RAM is an odd configuration. Makes me think that it probably has 4GB on the main board and a 2GB stick added. You would have to check the manufacturer's website for your model to see if you can even upgrade the RAM. CPU upgrade is out of the question unless you got an external GPU> But for that price, you could get into a new low-end laptop. It also says no playtime on any...
Yall think I should restore? It's from 2016
Did someone kick off a PC vs other inferior mediums argument or was that just the wind blowing?
It’s been many years so but I’ll try to give a decent answer. Sure a lot of it is “it’s not as simple to be a god at everything”. Oblivion basically has classes you can pick in character customization that really commits you to said traits. You can technically still get good at everything if you wanted.
And sure there’s no real consequences to joining every faction/guild, I’m not gonna pretend it has the roleplaying depth of a Fall Out New Vegas for example where if you join a faction another faction dislikes, they will naturally dislike you too. But a lot of the rp elements are how quests play out in oblivion. Quests are by far the strong suit of Oblivion. I remember oblivion having FAR more options on how to go about quests than Skyrim. I also remember having good speech skills or traits are far more useful in situations when talking to NPCs or going about a unique way to solve a quest. Skyrims quests mostly felt pretty standard with not many ways to go about them tbh.
My basic Skyrim vs Oblivion debate is usually this simple
Skyrims main story and fighting dragons > Oblivions main story and closing “oblivion gates”
Skyrims dungeons > Oblivions dungeons (hopefully they actually don’t copy and paste these, by far oblivions weakest part. To many generic caves with not much going on)
Oblivions quests > Skyrims quests
Oblivions cities and towns > Skyrims cities and towns
so it’s a pretty close toss up and both games are great. Oblivion just gives you more moments in quests to feel a bit more “role play” like.
I got so damn sick of closing gates and found it repetitive as hell. My favorite ES is morrowind and it’s not even close. Then Skyrim and way in the distance Obkivion which sucks because outside of the gates the game was damn good.
I just want a remake of Ultima Underworld (my favorite game of all time) and Morrowind and the Ultima and Kings Quest games.
I definitely remember just speed running the gates. you typically don't have to fight anyone, just go grab the stones.Yeah after you close about 5-6 gates you start to groan when you see a new one spawn haha. But I always feel compelled to go in and close it anyways haha
I never got to play Morrowind really. I remember it briefly when it came out but was too young to understand the hardcore rp elements of it. I’d love for them to remake it from the ground up one day. But at this rate just give me Elder Scrolls 6 before I die haha.

I think they would have to go back and add a TON of assets to make Morrowind worth upgrading. I remember most of the country side being without any real texture, and definitely without anything more than trees, and rocks to keep you from leaving a path.I know the reasons why, but am I the only one in here who would have preferred a Morrowing remake?
I never played ESO but the clips of Morrowind in that look awesome. Would love to see it on a U5 engine.
