The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake

Playing it now on a Base PS5. Looks gorgeous. On performance mode some very minor fps dips, nothing jarring. Gameplay still feels kinda clunky like Oblivion, but polished up a bit haha. I dig it how it’s still core Oblivion but looks gorgeous

I’m so confused. I see nothing on my PlayStation store but people are playing it. They release the trailer and the game on the same day? lol

Edit: I found it. Still kind of weird that they hyped up a trailer and then the game is available the same day.

I will say I understand why they chose to go with the term remaster, the game is still very clearly running the original 2006 version of the game. But it’s still stunning to see such an overhaul graphically. Had a few crashes. Hopefully the get sorted out. Still ran into an infamous bug that was in the original lmao. Didn’t get to play as much as I wanted today as some stuff popped up. But kudos to them for the price. I think they hit the nail on the coffin with it.

I'm planning on playing it next after I get through with Assassin's Creed: shadows. I've watched some videos and the graphic overhaul is unreal.

It really is such a cool combination of modern graphics but still the same janky Oblivion. It’s just a great way to have a modern way to play the same gem from the past. I could see new comers not like it at all due to its jank, but man this is nostalgia overload atm lol

I started it last night. Absolutely love it. I actually never played it all the way through the first time so it’s almost like a whole new game to me.

there’s parts I never touched in my original playthrough so many years ago. Or things I’d forgotten about. So it’s been such a fun nostalgic trip, but also discovery on things I missed. worth ever penny atm. Kinda cheesy but playing this is kinda like getting a warm hug.

It seems easier than the original. What do you think? I got into the Souls games after I played it so maybe I’m just used to harder games now.

I believe it is. You definitely seem to level up faster, and the difficulty settings are broken. Moving up to Expert makes the game significantly more difficult, but Adept is too easy. Thankfully, mods on PC fix these issues, but hopefully Bethesda patches the difficulty slider for everyone.

Regenerating health probably is making it easier imo. I don’t think that was a thing in the original
It wasn't. It definitely cheapens the experience IMO. As long as you can survive individual enemy encounters, you're fine. You don't need a single health potion to get through most dungeons.

Yeah there should be a way to turn it off, it does make you less reliant on potions and restoration magic. Only time I’ve needed potions were in oblivion gates where serval enemies came at me at once.

If you're on PC and if it's still Oblivion, wouldn't be surprised if you could edit the .ini file to turn it off.

I'm gonna tell you something.

You've posted on enough game threads to justify coming to the light side. Get a gaming pc. I will gladly help you build it via email.

Just do it.

Already been a pc gamer and went back to console. I get the major + of a pc though. Just my preference at the current moment for various reasons. but if I ever wanna delve back into a pc I’ll hit you up homie.

I’m with you there. I love the gaming PC culture (I’m an IT guy by profession) but there’s something about the simplicity of the console that appeals to me. I don’t want to be anywhere near a PC when I’m home, so that’s probably the majority of it for me.

Damn. I'm a pc gamer of 30 years and I've just broken into IT. This makes me sad.

Yeah lots of factors go into it. I know I worked at a place where I sat at a computer for 8 hours so the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was sit at another haha. There was a time where I loved my gaming pc but right now consoles are comvient and where most my friends are (even though I know a lot of games have cross platform these days anyways)

25 years in IT, the last 10 in Cyber. Once I broke into that side of the industry, my time in front of the screen when not at work crashed. Granted, I have to keep systems at home for work, but I avoid them wherever possible. Something about going over to this side (at least for me) broke me from wanting to be near a keyboard or monitor. In fact, it’s off and on again with the consoles too.

I'm console for life. Teaching kids nowadays is pretty much just using your computer all class.
Sure, I actually teach them, but still: Their assignments are digital, I have to grade digitally, I even sometimes have to leave videos when I'm out: digitally.
So yeah, I understand PC gaming, and it's fun, but I'm with UTK on this one.
