The drive-by post game handshake

The point is this: Kiffin has shown very little regard for tradition. He is dismissive of other teams, coaches, and players.

Some see that as a character flaw, as disrespectful and immature. Some view it as an attribute, as a reflection of his focus on just winning and not caring who he offends along the way.

Whichever camp you are in, his being abrupt with Beamer is entirely consistent with the way he has acted since the day he was hired.

How conveniently selective. Kiffin has said plenty of knowledgeable respectful things about Saban, Spurrier, Virginia Tech and yes even Meyer. Football we understand is competitive. We understand others want to beat the Vols. What's your point?:clapping:

I just watch the replay of the end of the game, and I saw nothing wrong with CLK's handshake at the end of the game. What on earth are you all talking about? I guess there are some bored people out there.

Kiffin still has nfl mentality on some issues, thus the drive by type handshake last night at game end. As he coaches a bit longer in SEC he will gradually take on the profile of a college coach.

Length of time to handshake the opposing coach at game's end is not written in concrete, but should more or less be natural and cordial. So when you view it live or on tv you'll know if the handshake was legit college or just buisness type nfl shake.

Now why do you need to come on here and try to make sense? We all know this; however, some of of don't like to admit it.

Why is this Kiffin's fault? Couldnt it be that Beamer didnt stop enough to shake HIS hand? Some of you pansies get worked up about anything. Its ridiculous.

Ben Tate just slam dunked a football after he scored a TD. Let's start 5 threads about him being the most classless spawn of Satan to ever roam the planet.

I saw it right after the game and I didn't like what I saw. I always supported Kiffin 100% but that was disrespectful imo.
it was a bowl game. it was not a must-win, but more of a friendly game at the end of the season.
That's where you differ from people like Kiff. He sees EVERY game as a must win. If you think its not a must win then don't even play the damn game. To quote a great American "it's only a game if you win, if you lose then it's just a waste of time". Al Bundy

You will never EVER E-V-E-R see Nick Saban show anything other than the absolute utmost respect for his opponent. End of story.

Disagree? Start providing links. I can provide half a hundred of him complementing the **** out of programs that don't deserve it. Not just coach speak either. He takes the time to know the details of every program he's up against. Nick Saban shows his opponents more class than Monte's son ever contemplated.

You are 100% correct, I totally agree.

Saban chose to disrespect victims of 9/11, and Pear Harbor.

And less you forgot, CLK said Bama would win the SECCG, because they had better coaches. Did you take that as a compliment to Saban, or disrespect to Meyer?
Guess it would matter what color you wear.

Like it or not............. Kiffin is a smart ass punk..........I tend to like that in him

Perhaps CLK was pissed that VT chose to blitz and hurt his QB when they were up by 3 scores with less than a minute to play.

You can play the 'can't blame them' card for playing aggressive D when the game is in hand but it's disrespectful nonetheless.

So what. He didn't sit there all day talking to him. Kiffin was mad and it showed oh well. I'm glad he showed a bit of anger and emotion. Fulmer would have congratulated Beamer for beating the piss out of him.

This kind of thought is case in point and totally representative of a really bothersome contingent of our fan base. Do some of us want to usher in a winning coach so badly that we are prepared to defend him for any and every wrong action?! Winning is cool, but at what price? Is the new messiah above sportsmanship, in addition to tact and maturity? The jury is totally still out for me on Kiffin. I am not sure at all I like the reputation he is and may continue to bring to our program. In less flowery language, I think the guy is coming across as big freaking baby and just not real smart.

You act like he gave Beamer the finger and walked by without shaking his hand.

+1 on this ! What's the point of the all out blitz when the game is in hand ?

I am all for playing to the whistle; but, was this necessary ?

pretty close. It's the equivalent of saying, "***k you, I'm not going to give you the pleasure of acknowledging you coached a good game." Come on guys, I want to be able to root for Kiffin too, but wouldn't you rather root for more than putting W's in the W column? Don't you want a coach you can admire too? My God, those who are saying at this point they admire Kiffin as a man should check themselves, imho.

I wouldn't have been offended. I played sports and saw people do this stuff all the damn time. As in, more often than not, it happened.
