The drive-by post game handshake

Please learn to shake hands honorably after a game. If you lose, lose well and with your honor intact. Their coaching staff did nothing this entire week but praise your players, your staff, and the job you have done. They came out and outplayed us and out-coached you. This is the beauty of football, you can't always be the best that day. So, please, in the future, remember that you represent the Vol fans, the State of Tennessee, and the South...come across the field, extend your hand, shake like a man, look the other coach in the eyes and tell them they coached a great game. It will go a long way 5-10 years down the road.

Thank You!

Why would anyone defend these actions with comments like "yeah they could have coffee at mid field"? How stupid, to think that taking 5 seconds to act like a gentleman and a sportsman is to much to expect is assinine. Spurrier acting just like that is exactly why so many people in Fl hated he and the Gators. Bobby Bowden is a great example of how you can be a real winner and a gentleman and an example to the team. Recruiting, Kifin just shot himself in the foot with a LOT of possible signers, many of them have parents who seeing this will opt for their kid to go elsewhere

bullcrap

I guess this thread will get the post counts up, so it has some value.

Can someone point me to the thread that explains why both of our lines got manhandled last night?

BTW Kifin is spelled that way due to the fact I am not willing to give an "F" about him. Low class and low rent. Hard to believe Monty is his father.

This is my first post, but I just had to say something to all these dumb remarks that are being posted on all these pages. He said good job to the head coach, which in my opinion is good enough when your as competitive as Kiffin is. Also, he had to check on Crompton because he got hurt on the last play, who ended up going to the hospital.

No kisses after the game. Mere handshake will do. CLK was already thinking about how to make things better on The Hill.

Great job on your first post!

Welcome to VolNation and Happy New Year to ya!

Kiffin congratulates player, Beamer turns to his left away from Kiffin soon as he gets to him, and Kiffin is a jerk cause of it?

Seriously. I don't know what the problem is. I can't imagine there is much more to discuss than a simple "good game".

Some of you need to wash it out and put 2009 behind you.

Maybe he should have stopped for awhile and had a picnic, huh?

WTF. . .you just got your butt handed to you by a coach and team that was better than you and has had a consistent reputation for a classy and well run program!! You in turn, despite your frustrations of losing, show respect by a good handshake and some eye contact! Being a 34 year old coach, Kiffin has some maturing to do. . .both in terms of play calling and being gracious in defeat.

He said good job and shook his hand, what else do people want him to do...

Wish he would have skipped it entirely and went to chewing @sses out in the locker room.

Maybe some of you should use some of this

I'm with ya.. You know it must've been a long night when OUR fans are criticizing OUR coach about a damn handshake?? Come on! Losing the game is one thing, but seeing our fanbase bickering over something like this is ridiculous. You guys need to get over yourselves.

and those who have accomplished a great deal as a coach....this arrogance and sulking serves no purpose for our program and I am sorry that it happened. Beamer had his team ready to play and we don't have the horses that we need yet but we will eventually, but this is the first year of a long rebuilding process. We should not have to deal with childish actions by our head coach...what does that accomplish???? No one expected him to hug Beamer or fall down at his feet but what kind of an example does that give our players and potential players? When you carry a chip on your shoulder, one day it will get knocked off. If your competition beats you, you should determine to be better than them the next time you meet...maturity and professionalism are admirable qualities and may be the basic foundation for success. GO VOLS....let's start a NEW YEAR on a positive note and thanks to all our players for a good year...it was really better than I had thought it would be...so at least we don't feel quite as bad as Arizona today.

And kowtowing to a half-wit coach from the smallest corner of black-lung alley wins games?

Hey fellas...if you don't like him find another team. Everything he does gets magnified by a bunch of goofballs on this site. We don't know every situation. We don't know everything that has been said or everything that goes on. Just because we spend time on here doesn't mean we know everything that goes on behind the scenes. If you don't like CLK, you know where you can go. He is what he is.

Yeah, maybe have a coffee at mid field. Stupid thread.

It's NOT a stupid thread!!! You show class when you win. . .and you show class when you lose. I really like Kiffin, but he has to check his emotions sometimes, and needs to think a little bit before he just reacts. He's reacted "off the cuff" far too much in his short tenure as Vols coach.

You have absolutely no football program knowledge.

I hope Lane sees your post and has a revelation.

Wait - you do have national championship rings, a resume that includes NFL head coach and coached an SEC team. Right?

It was a long bowl week, ice cream socials and all. Kiffin had plenty of fine and gracious things to say about Beamer and Virgina Tech. A quick "good game" and then onward is just fine. You know guys and gals the camera does not tell all.

Yea, I've heard Kiffin praise Beamer plenty of times during all the bowl week events and such. After getting your ass whacked on national TV, I don't think Kiffin is gonna get on his hands and knees and wash Beamer's feet.

I beg to differ!! Watch Penn State today and see how Paterno handles himself after the game. . .win or lose!

and don't tell me I don't know UT football - I've been a fan and close follower since 1965!

Happy New Year!

If you insist that VTech is a classy and well run program then I stand by my assertion.
