You may be wishful thinking here. Team politics isn't going anywhere. There is another side of the coin here too. Many 3rd party candidates are seen as a wasted vote by many, even a risky vote because if the election is going to be close, and enough people in their party vote for this 3rd party candidate then they could just be handing the keys to their least desired candidate. The only way to do this would be to get rid of the party system all together....fat chance of that happening.

I need to take a break from politics for a while again as it seems to be leading me to say mean things again. Need to step back and breath awhile.
I will make on last observation that is directed toward both parties. Every once in a while, a decent, sane, an honorable person will decide to run for political office. That is awesome. But if they are still running around DC twenty or thirty years later than I seriously question the continued presence of either sanity or decency.
Power corrupts and warps. The Lord of the Rings is more than a simple fantasy book, it contains deep themes of truth. And the parable that is the one ring is one of the truest. There is a good reason that the wisest and best realize they can never take the ring and use it as even the best intentions and motives will eventually warp under the excercise of power. Both parties in American history fall victim to the corruption of power. The Republicans in their historical obsession with preventing any and all regulation of their big business friends and more recently the Democrats in their mistaken belief that government spending and social engineering can somehow overcome human self interest and create a New Deal or Great Society. We just happen to be at a time in the great political pendulum swing when the Democrats have excercised their power too long and it is time to push it back the other way. I have no doubt that when the swing goes all the way to the Right (it is happening and it unavoidable no matter how much the left decries the fact), the stench of rot and decay from the GOP will become similarly unbearable. Corruption follows power as surely as night follows day. That said, I will ever support the party that at least promises me the greatest degree of individual Liberty as it lets me at least have a hope of avoiding the heavy handed rule of whoever currently wields the one ring.
And in a similar way, arguing about politics has begun once again to warp me and make me uncharitable towards those I disagree with who are like me simply trying to figure out this crazy thing called life to the best of their ability day by day. So peace and safety to all. Stay healthy, stay happy, pray for a de escalation of the absolute insanity in Ukraine and be basically nice and decent. If you want to hear anything from me, look to the football or pub world where I can excercise my rage and dander against stupid Bama and Dawg fans. I’m off to breathe

Could be - but it is time that companies actually pay a price for the woke virtue signaling. I mean its an economic decision that if the only thing that happens when you piss on the sensibilities of the vast majority of your customers is that you get gushing positive media and the culture mavens cheer, then why not do so?

Glad to see there is some risk coming into that risk/reward calculation.

Leftists have absolutely NO compunctions or hesitations in the slightest in economically eviscerating anyone that disagrees with them. The vast majority meanwhile, has not done the same and that has allowed the cancers to spread. That needs to change.

I understand what you are saying, but we haven't had a recognizable independent or other 3rd party candidate with enough money behind them to get their faces out there since Ross Perot. Someone like him could really make some noise now, and in a field of Trump verses Biden....if he had been 30 or 40 years younger he would probably win. Until that happens, there will be no viable option. It will always be someone with a D or an R beside their name.

Confessions of a Former Libertarian Vote Waster: it is a wasted vote. Isn't it moronic to believe multiparty systems are superior without being able to point out a multiparty nation that isn't even more fked than ours? If a populace cannot manage two parties in service of the people who elect them, it certainly cannot handle three or six. Polling tells us the 3rd party in '20 was the media who killed half a dozen Biden scandals, pulling votes away from Trump. Our 3rd and 4th parties would be socialists and nationalists to broker with and having to trade each good policy for a shite policy, nulling the effect.

Prosperity and global affluence corrupt as people grow indulgent and feed it with imaginary currency. Nations have a life cycle; the question is what is the circumstance of its death and what follows it.

This guy aint Just not afraid of a fight. He is going looking for them. In a way That makes me proud of him, but it also hints at a high level of ambition. This man WILL be President. The only things he can do to the BOD is what any other stockholder can do. If he tries to get some punitive legislation passed he's no different than the Dems.

Not saying he is any different. Hence my mention of the sort of freighting ambition I am detecting
But as Governor, he does have influence over the investment strategy pursued by his retirement fund appointees. He is much more than a common investor. States make political decisions to „divest“ from certain entities all the time. Not saying it is necessarily right, but it is clear that, if the left gets to play, why should we unilaterally disarm ourselves in response?
