The DeSantis containment thread -- all things DeSantis go here

In this view, Putin saw Biden as someone he could deal with as Russia seized territory from Ukraine. But not the erratic Trump.
Just come out and say it, Biden is an F'n moron and every world leader realizes that our country is being run by a bunch of 25 year old liberal idealists

Fiona Hill, the Russia expert, former senior National Security Council aide in the Trump White House and star witness against Trump in his first impeachment, appeared recently on a program sponsored by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Discussing the Ukraine war, Hill suggested that Putin waited to invade Ukraine until Biden became president, preferring Biden's "predictability" to Trump's volatility.

Fiona Hill..LOL

Did Putin wait until Biden became President to invade Ukraine? | Byron York
Byron York is a conservative correspondent. He is just using the same "Trump is a wild card" sentiment that we see on here. All any of us can do is speculate, but there is nothing on the record from his time as President, which indicates that Trump's approach to the military entanglements of American allies would have been something other than non-interventionism.

I have not yelled from the mountaintops that trump was involved in a conspiracy with Putin for years, so i will ask the question. Given Trump's foreign policy statements, what diplomatic actions would he have undertaken to prevent the Russian invasion of Ukraine?

I think he would have pressured the EU to be more involved with $$$ and equipment versus our billions of dollars spent to date.

There's no way Trump would have taken a tough approach to Putin. Putin would have complimented Trump til the cows cane home and fed his ego, then convinced him it was a short term skirmish to replace the government of Ukraine and Trump would have bought all of it.

Does that deter Putin from invading? Seems to me like the net result for putin is the same. I'm more curious as to why Trump was a deterrent to this whereas Biden precipitated it.

Trump's public statements concerning foreign policy suggest a non-interventionist approach to the military conflicts of American allies. That is really all we have to go on.

His approach was to get the EU countries up to 2% of their GDP for defense spending. Having this in place and continued forward may have given Putin pause.

So your theory is that nato would have spent more under trump, but they probably spent more anyway?

Governments rarely spend less. I remember Trump caught flack for pushing the EU countries to get their defense spending up to 2% of GDP. Could have been a rate of spending difference.

What is your theory?

I don't have a theory, but I don't see any evidence that Putin invaded Ukraine based on the assumption that the consequences would be less severe if Biden were president.

How so? What makes you think he would challenge putin if this happened on his watch?
It didn't happen on his watch . There is the proof. Joe has dementia and spends the better part of his day be handled. Xi and Putin have enough spies to know. Xi will act on Taiwan and probably has enough on the Biden's to earn nothing more than some sanctions. Everyone can have a Ukrainian flag and a Taiwan flag on their social media . That'll fix it. I feel sorry for Taiwan.

Is this hypothetical question going to absolve Joe and his handlers ? Trump is not the president and probably won't be again. If they would have left him alone he wouldn't have ran again. I believe that.

Love him or hate him Trump kept our young men and women out of a another useless war .

I have, my son was is 11 had never seen the full Statue till yesterday, but knew what it was from the torso up picture...so yea he was taught about art without showing him a sexual organ.

It's a good thing because we all know that sexual organs are to be shamed, covered and never discussed. Your son, seeing it on a stone statue, would be reminded that he too has a penis and certainly be reminded of the sexual shame he should feel.

And you think they liked or respected Trump? Are you delusional? The only guys who liked Trump were Putin and the Saudis. Europe loves Biden, especially on Ukraine. You clearly know nothing about international relations.

Who the hell wants our POTUS “liked” by foreign leaders? We should want him feared, if they “like” him it’s because they are able to take advantage of him and are sucking away our tax dollars. It’s you that know nothing about foreign relations.

This Vinn diagram shows the parents concerned with exposure to visual depiction of sexual organs and the parents who have truck nuts on their car.
