If he left they wanted him to go back to Pitt or someplace outside the SEC. They said he is a great recruiter.

Good hire for the situation Dooley finds himself in with no ability to get the big fish. After researching the guy some more I feel much better about it than I did initially. He should be able to save the recruiting class and hopefully get these guys to playing hardnosed SEC D.

We could have ended up with much worse situation. Will be curious to see CLT's response.

I like the optimism, he is definitely not my first choice, as I would have preferred that the Vols hire a proven DC, not a lifelong position coach. I'm happy the Bama fans are upset at him leaving. Maybe he can shut down the Bama offense next year when we play and lead the Vols to a big win. Go Vols.

No disrespect intended. I just can't imagine 70+ teens/20 somethings that have been given any final selection info and nothing leaks. Just not possible.

I don't recall Shannon say he was ever interested in UT and working for Dooley. Guy would have been a 1 year wonder and then off to his next HC job. UT needs a DC who will hopefully stay for a while. Sunseri knows defenses. He deserves a shot. I am ok with the hire the coach and AD wanted.

Watched some kind of high school skills challenge today. Santos finished second best behind a 165 lb athlete. Pretty dang good for a linebacker. Hope we do lock him up this weekend with the announcement.

Sounds like Dooley might have hired some decent coaches. And, in spite of all the criticism, he kept about the only one I liked (Chaney). Hope he keeps Lance as well. Time will tell.

It also probably means he's got more than a year to fix things as my guess is those contracts are for 3 years. Sounds like we'll know tomorrow.

I hope he's better than I think he is.

Probably, but I think Saban would release him and if the kid doesn't mind sitting a year, I could see it. Actually, a release wouldn't be a big deal would it since he could attend for free anyway and be a walk on.
