When I was healthy and running 20+ miles a week I got asked all the time about shoe recommendations. Still do, just not as much. I’ve always said to go try them on, they should be a perfect shoe the moment you put them on. Tennis/running/walking/whatever shoes aren’t like dress shoes or cowboy boots. They aren’t designed to be stretched and get more comfortable over time. They should feel great the moment you try them on and take them for a spin. Almost any running shoe specialty store will let you either walk around the parking lot/block or use their treadmill to see how you like them. I could NEVER order a pair online if I didn’t already know what that model felt like.Wish I wasn't so indecisive. I'm the same way about alot of things, like my watch.
I have no problem paying $160 for a pair of those shoes, if I knew they were going to be exactly what I was looking for. Just like the Garmin watch. But I hate the hassle of ordering crap and it not being what I want and having to send it back. So I end up doing with what I have or without.
And remember, every brand makes different models for all the different needs. Flat feet, regular arches, high arches, pronators, supinators, max stability, totally neutral, and on and on.
