The Crazy Thing No One is Considering: Frost is Still Available

Frost to Nebraska.

And for sake of argument, even if not the case, why would he torpedo his career and sign on to the mess that is Tennessee.

After last night and being 100% sure what really went down, I hope Frost goes somewhere with integrity. Unless he can walk a shaky tightrope, he wants nothing to do with this three ring circus.

Ever heard of Warren Buffet?

I agree, UT isn't spending the cash. When the stadium is half empty for the next few years, they may start to listen. Doubt it though.

But that $340 million facelift in Neyland's South End Zone will really look good on the SEC Network during noon games, especially with a clear view & no butts in those seats. :ermm:

We have zero chance of signing Frost. It’s not even 1 in a million, we have literally a zero percent chance of landing Frost.

He is going to Nebraska

I'm sorry, does the AD call the plays? Does the AD put together the game plans? Does the AD recruit the players?

The AD hires the coaches. The AD says when to fire them. The AD controls the budget.

If you think the success or failure doesn't reside on the fulcrum of the AD, then you don't understand business.

As for my voice. No on Frost.

You have to prove more than he has in my opinion.

He has certainly done a fine job in his time at Central Florida but and he "seems" the part but this is another potential Butch Jones and we can't take the risk with a person who has such a short resume.

Tennessee needs to make a fair amount of splash with this hire or we will wallow in mediocrity for another 5 years.
But, we're now having people throw out names like Tee Martin and Venables. What have they "proven" in their resumes as head coaches???

Florida's top candidate after Chip Kelly rejected them was Scott Frost. Frost refused to interview till after the conference championship game on Saturday. Florida saw that Tennessee was interviewing Dan Mullen, panicked, and hired him immediately in fear that Tennessee would land him first. Then Tennessee panics and inexplicably tries to hire Greg Schiano.

But the crazy thing ... Frost is still out there and we now have a better chance at landing him. And the competition is now weaker with Florida out of the field. Of course, Currie seems dead-set on panicking, but if he'd actually slow down and have some patience, he has a chance to sell a generational talent coach on the University of Tennessee.

The idea that Frost to Nebraska is a done deal is hogwash. Nebraska is the toughest "prestige program" job in the nation. It's a nightmare to recruit there. There's no blue chip talent in Nebraska. There's no blue chip talent in any states neighboring Nebraska. The closest markets for blue chip talent are Chicago (not that great) which is over 500 miles away and Dallas (pretty good) which is over 600 miles away. Nebraska made a huge mistake moving into the Big 10 as it's also made Texas more difficult to recruit for them, so they have to rely on weaker Big 10 recruiting grounds.

Meanwhile, Tennessee is producing more and more blue chip talent every year. We have top 3 facilities in the nation. Knoxville is within 200 miles of one of the top 3 recruiting markets (Atlanta) and is also nearby other great recruiting areas (Virginia, North Carolina) where it has a competitive advantage. Fan support is incredible. The Tennessee job is one of the best in the nation. A great coach at Tennessee can bring in top 5 recruiting classes annually and regularly compete for a national title, whereas Nebraska struggles to bring in top 25 classes even with good coaches (like Bo Pelini.) Even Derek Dooley (a terrible recruiter) got top 25 classes at Tennessee.

Many coaches have said that Scott Frost is more pragmatic than people realize. He'd consider jobs like Florida and Tennessee over Nebraska. I didn't think we had a chance because he'd pick Florida over us (he's already recruiting there), but with Florida out of the picture, suddenly Scott Frost may actually be a more realistic possibility.

I know ... I'm dreaming, because Currie is a Jimmy Haslam puppet who wants to make a panic hire rather than take his time to get the hire right. Currie wants to bring in "his guy" rather than sell a truly great coach on being here. But this would actually be a potentially golden opportunity for a competent AD. Tennessee is now the best job available and Scott Frost is still out there.

You're a fool if you think Frost or any decent coach touches us now. A fool.

Frost has been a coordinator at a P5 school and a good program at that. He’s accomplished far more in every aspect, including wins and losses, at UCF than Butch ever sniffed at Cincy or Central Michigan. And UCF is a bigger stage than both UC or C. Michigan. There’s no comparison. He’s light years ahead of Butch.

Hiring a coach that can come in and win big will make all of this go away.

Schiano wasn't even close to being that coach.

This thread is a microcosm of the delusional UT fan base.

It's over people. No coach worth a crap is coming here now, I don't care how much money you throw at him. No Frost. No Peterson. No Leach. Give it up.

UTK needs a head coach who actually appreciates (and can demonstrate) the fact that without the very best Offensive Line available ... it will be the some old story at UTK. Frost is not the man for that job. Coach Mark McHale is.

Can't we all just pause for a moment to enjoy the bonfire that is Texas A&M? Who in their right mind would want to work there?
