When I see how our offense looks with Aguilar vs what we saw with Nico last year, I have to wonder what our offense look like this year if Nico had stayed? Not saying UCLA is ripe with offensive talent, but having a qb like Nico really hamstrings what talent you do have around him. He's not going to make anyone on that offense better, and he's certainly no leader. I'm going to enjoy the fresh air surrounding this years Vol squad regardless of the record. It's like flying in storm clouds then you elevated above them and things are calm and clear. You take a deep breath and are just glad you decided to pull up on that stick and remove yourself from the muck and mire.

There's a thread on the UCLA fan board at 247 Sports entitled, "JON GRUDEN NOW". lol. Can't read the thread because it requires a subsription -- and no way I'm doing THAT -- but it's hilarious to see Gruden being invoked at places other than VN.com. Heh.

You also can tell a big difference in Hype's demeanor this year as opposed to the past two years. He has a guy who can run the offense the way he needs a qb to run it and not having to scheme around his QB. I am like you who else are we coddling. Is it due to NIL and portal pressure? Sad what those two things have done to NCAA athletics- players use to have to wait their turn and work and develop their way up. That is a life skill that you also learn when you are in a job or at work. You don't start at the top right off for the most part.

Good grief. Two vastly different situations and vastly different skill sets, not to mention Hurts won multiple championships as QB. Hurts had the “it” factor they day he arrived at Bama. This writer needs a drug intervention.

I think Heupel would have been pressured to keep starting him due to the mo ey invested in him.

This is just a sad situation for Nico. I didn't watch the game but looked at box score. It looks like he had a decent day passing but was also the leading rusher after getting sacked twice. UClLA's offense just sucks. It makes you wonder what little brother is thinking. He is sitting there watching Nico's future go up in flames, will he stick it out or will he bail out?
