Kiffin and his staff will recruit florida hard, where there are a ton of great athletes. UT will steal a ton from miami, florida state and florida, and before long, be back on top in the SEC east. Florida can't stay there forever.
Kiffin snuck around as a new coach, talked some smack to some young impressionable recruits, and scored a couple of high-profile commits from other schools. Whoop-de-doo. We would have loved to have those recruits, for sure, but they made their bed with Smokey, and now they're going to have to sleep in it.
One can have a garage full of exotic cars, but if they can't drive, it doesn't matter. Let's see how that "pro-set" goes for those poor kids.
"We'll be using the pro-sets, you know, the ones that I failed with in the pros".
Everyone knows that Kiffin is capable of saying anything to get what he wants, as witnessed by his fresh-off-of-the-recruiting-trail gaffs in front of the cameras a few months ago. He was still in BS mode from hanging out with the kids apparently. It's one thing spouting bull to kids, it's another doing it in front of adults.
Everyone in the SEC now knows the game that Kiffin's crew plays, and they'll be more than happy to show him the ropes. He flew in under the radar, because the laughter still hadn't subsided from his Oakland debacle. It's not as if many SEC coaches haven't seen his type before, though. They've come and gone, a flash in the pan, flexing their muscles in front of the mirror during the summer, and then getting *****-slapped on Saturdays in the fall. One ambush doesn't win the war.
Florida will have it's ups and downs, but Kiffin and crew won't be the ones to knock the Gators off of their pedestal. He's done nothing to show that he can be a championship coach. Where was he successful without someone else holding his leash? The only trophy he has on display is his wife.
No, there's plenty of coaches in the SEC and elsewhere who can possibly take Florida down a notch, but your placeholder coach and his high-priced hired help still have to be able to coach in the NCAA to win, and none of them have proven anything yet.
Oh, but you can dream, grabbing at bits and pieces and making your monument to his future greatness out of them if you want. I know that I won't stop you. I do know that my words will be forgotten in a couple of years, when you scream for his head.
