What's the javelin?
I hated my storm. I really did. It was fun for a few days with the nice screen and all but typing is difficult (if you type fast anyway) and the OS is really laggy -- much more so than the iphone. It also takes several more steps to do everything, like dialing a name from your phonebook, since there is no keyboard.
I know a couple of people that have them and haven't complained. You can change the touchscreen settings under options to type faster. I've been looking at them since they came out and as long as you stay with the Verizon OTA updates most people don't have many problems. I guess I'll see next week when I get one.![]()
Have you tried the Opera Mini browser yet? I'm a BB newbie,so I haven't got around to trying it yet.I've "heard" it's faster, but who knows?
I just got the Samsung Eternity from ATT. I am a previous BB curve and Iphone owner and I have to say that I like this phone much better
Samsung is beginning to become a major player in the touchscreen cellphone market. They've had quite a few come out the last couple of months. I think they have one out that has a 5 megapixel camera and another one coming out that will have 7.

You'll probably like it just fine. Most people that don't like it as much are Apple users (like myself),and they've gotten used to the pinch/expand feature in Safari browser, and the much smoother finger "flick" screen to find a song,apps,etc..Also,with the iphone/ipod touch when you click on a letter it enlarges so you can see it in front of your finger, with the Storm the letter you touch just lights up,but your finger is covering it,so it's not much help in making sure your finger is on the letter you really want to type.
Pros for the Storm are MMS,dependable push Email,a very nice screen, better camera, and copy/paste,and a much larger 3G EVDO Rev A footprint, at least in my area I would be on the crappy Edge network until I get towards Nashville with my friends iphone.
Pros for the iphone is the browser, intuitive screen....smooth like butter.TONS of apps,WiFi,pinch & stretch browser.
Still, the iphone is useless if you're in a spotty area like myself. So I went with the best of both worlds (for me) and got the Storm to go with my ipod touch just to put all the cool apps Apple offers.
I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to most phones, but if anyone has any questions about data cards and tethering a phone as modem,I might can be of some help.
One of the only things that has kept me from getting an iphone is not being able to tether it to my laptop like I can with my 8830.
I tried the software settings for the screen and it didn't help. It's more of a physical limitation of having to press and fully let go before you can click again. Kind of hard to explain.
Don't get me wrong, the storm was fun to play with and if you don't use it a ton for work you might like it. But for me, like I mentioned before, it just wasn't as user friendly and easy to use as my 8830.
I use the opera browser from time to time but i prefer the bb browser as long as you have the latest os 4.5

I'm on the market for a new phone. I've currently got Verizon service, but I'm thinking of making a switch to AT&T. I'm looking at the Samsung Omnia, the BB Storm, and the Dare for Verizon; and the Iphone, and the Eternity for AT&T. Anyone have any info on the Omnia besides the 5.0 camera?
