The cell phone thread

Still have the first version of the EnV. It's been the best phone i've ever had.

I have a Curve right now, but about to get a Storm. Google app is good, if you use XBOX Live, xberry is a good app. Facebook, Myspace, and ESPN are good too.
I'd pass on the storm and look at the bold. The storm has the same processor as the curve....prone to freezing.

I know two people that haven't had any freezing issues and they've had it since it came out. Verizon doesn't have the Bold so that is a no go there anyways.

I have heard bad things about the storm.

I hated my storm. I really did. It was fun for a few days with the nice screen and all but typing is difficult (if you type fast anyway) and the OS is really laggy -- much more so than the iphone. It also takes several more steps to do everything, like dialing a name from your phonebook, since there is no keyboard.

that's pretty much the summary I've gotten as well. To me the best compromise is a Ipod touch and a regular blackberry-I know that you then have 2 things to carry around, but I want my music separate from my phone for now.

I did play with a bold the other day....and the curve is looking awfully long in the tooth now...

Agreed. I've struggle with this decision because I really wanted a new phone. However, the curve didn't really seem all that better than my 8830, so I just switched back to my "old reliable" when I traded in my storm.

I'm actually considering switching to at&t just for the iphone or the bold.

I have never understood the differences in the curve and the world phone. Does it have wifi? That's probably my favorite thing about the tmobile curve. I've looked at switching to att for the bold as well, but I just can't beat tmobile's pricing.

The 8830 doesn't have wifi but I don't think the Curve on Verizon does either. Unfortunately, we don't have t-mobile around here.

I think the wifi ability is really underated and more valuable than gps. I always had trouble talking in houses and buildings, but with the wifi you don't have to worry about that. Not to mention how much easier it is to browse webpages like the nation. My only complaint with the curve is that the thing seems to leak memory like crazy...

T-mobile is only really a viable option if you are in a large metro area, their coverage is spotty everywhere else.

I think wifi is a great option but, like I said, I don't think Verizon offers it on any of their phones.

I think all blackberry's leak memory like crazy. My 8830 does the same thing.

The HTC Touch Pro,and the Samsung Omnia both have wifi, but none of the BB's do,including the new Storm.

I have Verizon because of the great coverage in my area, but their phone selection (and disabling wifi) just sucks.

My family all live in Marion county and all have verizon because of the coverage.

The World phone is for traveling in areas like Japan that run on GSM (same as AT&T)networks. In North America Verizon runs on a CDMA (EVDO) network.

ahhh, that makes sense. So if you have a sim card phone you wouldn't need a "world phone."

Yes, or at least that's the way I understand it.:)

Verizon is coming out with a new Javelin in the next 2-3 month's,but I pulled the trigger on a Storm, and I DO NOT like it as much as my Ipod touch when it comes to typing with it....of course the touch doesn't make a very good phone either. You just can't beat the browser experience you get with Apple Safari, and a good wifi signal.
