What kind do you have? Do you like it?

I just got a Blackberry Pearl 8130 today, and so far I hate it. I had an LG and I loved it, but it crapped completely out. I have 3 days to try this Blackberry out, I might trade it in. Any suggestions on something better.

VX6800 from Verizon. The earpiece and speakerphone volume stinks. But other than that, I'm OK with it.

Motorola Q, I love it. I suggest that LG Voyager though, I have played around with it quite a bit, it's all kinds of sweet.

Just got a Sprint "Rumor" phone with the slide out keyboard. I text alot, would rather do that than talk on a phone.

Oh man the text with a keyboard is something else. So easy to use. That is the selling point, I needed a keyboard. So glad I got one like that.

I know. I would rather do short sentences and get to the point rather chit chat. I love texting. And with a keyoboard it is so much nicer.

I need to update to a "smartphone." I'd like to combine my Palm and my phone into one. I use Palm software in the office for drug-dosing, etc., but most programs offer versions in other formats. (Ideally, I'd like to add my iPod, too, but the capabilities of the iPhone are a bit too limited, from what I hear.)

The beef I hear with Blackberries is the software: limited and incompatible with other OS's. But, I don't hear great things about the Palm treo's either. My friend in Nashville, also a doctor, hated his last Motorola Q. Dad got a Blackberry World Edition and seems to like it, but he doesn't text much.

Any suggestions?

I was happy enough with my BlackJack to go to the BlackJack II. I've been happy with it as well. WinMo isn't perfect, but it's a reasonable OS and relatively simple. Synchs seamlessly with Windows systems.

Nextel i560, i can drop it, get it wet, and generally beat the hell out of it, and it works fine. Plus, thats what they gave me for work, so i dont have much choice unless i want to pay my own bill.

I have that one as well (the 8830) since I was traveling quite a bit the past few months. Easy to use and I really like it. Plus you can post on VN anywhere, anytime

I had the V from Verizon when it first came out and liked it except for the size (like a brick) and the mobile web browser. The flip-open full keyboard was great

I love my 8130. The sure type system works great, it just takes a week or so to get used to. I use my Blackberry as a business device, so web browsing and email are very important. Email on a blackberry is second to none. Orangeblood, if you don't need email or broadband web browsing you should go with a "regular phone" with a full keyboard for texting. Way too many people jump on the PDA bandwagon just because they are "cool" and hate them because they are more complicated and difficult to use for the normal phone user.

I have a Treo 650 and it has served well. I am waiting for the Treo 800 to be released this summer - faster, more memory, better connect speed to the internet.

Anyone have the BB Curve?

Also, how easy is it to transfer Palm-based "memos" to a BB or Windows Mobile OS? I have a decent library of clinical pearls, coding guidelines, etc. that I would really like to keep without retyping everything.

I have an iPhone and I'm a bit underwhelmed by it.

It's got some cool stuff but isn't the greatest phone. I like the iPod feature best.

you can just post them to the notes in Outlook and it will sync them at the first shot. I'm assuming you have them as notes in the Palm software.

Otherwise, just save them to a SD card and pull them up with the native viewer on the BB. I don't think you'll find that operation very hard at all.
