The cancel culture is getting out of control

Folks you can't have an opinion these days without being cancelled. Another one bites the dust from the Woke company ESPN.

Women, including black women are now in the crossfire of political correctness. Oops, I'm sure that wasn't the original intent. The law of unintended consequences.

The only safe job these days is being a leftist bigot disparaging conservatives.

ESPN anchor Sage Steele is off the air after her comments on vaccines and Obama

Sports anchor Sage Steele is off the air at ESPN after she called vaccine mandates "sick" and "scary" and questioned why former President Barack Obama identifies as Black even though he was raised by his white mother.

Steele made the comments last week on the podcast Uncut with Jay Cutler, and her removal from the air was reported by Front Office Sports.

In a statement, the network said: "At ESPN, we embrace different points of view - dialogue and discussion makes this place great. That said, we expect that those points of view be expressed respectfully, in a manner consistent with our values, and in line with our internal policies. We are having direct conversations with Sage and those conversations will remain private."

ESPN also shared a statement from Steele. "I know my recent comments created controversy for the company, and I apologize," she said. "We are in the midst of an extremely challenging time that impacts all of us, and it's more critical than ever that we communicate constructively and thoughtfully."

Their turn will come eventually. Maybe not before the world ends, but ... Anyway this kind of thing always turns nasty and has unintended consequence.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Cancel culture refuses to acknowledge that people can grow, change, and make meaningful amends. At some point, the court of public opinion will have to start working with the concept of a statute of limitations.

Common sense would say so. It's absurd to believe that today what you say and do will meet the dictates of people who are yet to be born.

Lol bless your heart

I actually believe Gruden would want out after all this stuff came out. The Demaurice Smith comment, which was the context for our interaction, was not going to have him out of football. Far more has been revealed and I can see why a guy who is classy but made mistakes would choose to withdraw.

Gruden didn’t get “canceled”. Insult women, gay people and black people openly for a decade while calling your boss a f****t and you’re going to lose your job. Expecting a cohesive locker room with him still in charge is also extremely optimistic

The commissioner wasn’t his boss.

I’m guessing everyone here would face similar consequences on the job if they were dumb enough to put everything Gruden said in writing, on an employer’s email server, where it could be subject to discovery in the event of an internal or external investigation.

But sure, Gruden is the victim here. 😂

Gruden is anything but classy

I think it's fair to say that we have all said things in the past that we aren't very proud of today, but Gruden was stupid enough to put it in writing and send it to an official NFL employee email address. I think most of us who work in corporate environments know that if we did something like that we would also be fired or asked to resign. I'm not a fan of cancel culture but as far as examples of people getting canceled for frivolous stuff go, this isn't the hill to die on.

Of course it was never a problem that Gruden was constantly compared to a psychotic doll…you can comment on some people’s loos but not others

It's not about the person it's about what's said. If he had made a joke about Smith having big ears, nobody would be saying anything. Regardless of Gruden's intent, the burn is a racial trope. It's totally forgivable, which is why I think Gruden would have kept his job, except then all this other stuff came out.

Movin’ on out: De Blasio booting Founding Father Jefferson from City Hall

This Founding Father will no longer be in “the room where it happens” — thanks to Bill de Blasio.

The mayor, who has just three months left in office, is quietly banishing a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall’s Council chambers — where it has resided for the past 187 years, The Post has learned.

Now Moccasins are Racist! Minnetonka APOLOGIZES for making the traditional shoes for 75 YEARS because it is NOT a Native American-owned business

A Minnesota-based shoe firm has apologized for making moccasins because it is not owned by Native Americans, who pioneered the design of the traditional footwear.

Popular brand Minnetonka issued a statement Monday admitting the company had made money through 'appropriation' of Native American culture over the last 75 years.

'We deeply and meaningfully apologize for having benefited from selling Native-inspired designs without directly honoring Native culture or communities,' the statement read.

Minnetonka, which has been making its popular shoes since 1964, timed the apology to coincide with Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Well, damn. I've settled on and been happy with Minnetonka moccasins for house shoes - guess that's over. Probably going to have to find a replacement for Land O Lakes butter, too. Apparently you just can't fix the really special brand of woke stupidity. Turns out when you think companies have been celebrating other heritages, they've decided it was abuse. I'm waiting for car companies to start purging names because they represent places where bad things happened at the hands of white people. Good thing GM already axed Pontiac - makes you wonder if they will confiscate any still around. Chrysler wisely dodged with the Plymouth brand. Mustang could be pretty iffy if things keep up. "Volunteer" could be at risk for suppressing people with brown skins - even though it had more to do with the War of 1812, but then Andrew Jackson was hard on Indians, sooo.
