Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

No argument that he made UT basketball revelant again. I was very happy with Pearl and thought we had the coach to keep our program at an elite level. He did do lots of good in his time here. It is not opinion that he also made very poor decisions that resulted in bad results for our program and for himself. If you look at his past, he was blackballed by major universities until UT hired him because of turning in another school and using a doctored tape to try to nail them. He cheated on his wife. He lied to the NCAA. He was fired. He was given a three year show cause due to unethical behavior. All that is fact, not opinion. I think you are the one who is having trouble separating fact from opinion.

You’re still confusing facts with opinions.
First off, his private marital issues are irrelevant unless every divorced person in America is also tagged as unethical.
Also, you can’t tag him as unethical for turning in another program for recruiting violations. Apparently many other college coaches have some perceived code making that a bad thing. Everywhere else in America whistle blowing is encouraged and protected.
The remainder of your example is all related to the same Craft / cover up issue.
I view his body of work at UT and formulate the opinion that it was 98% positive until he blew it all up by being stupid.
You formulate the opinion that the stupid mistake he made at the end of his run taints everything accomplished in the prior years.

Small correction if you don't mind. Whistle blowing is not encouraged in DC by this administration.

Why could we not ditch Cuonzo and rehire Pearl after this year? Isn't his "show cause" up after this year? Why couldn't we do that? Who gives a crap what anybody thinks about it. At least Pearl is a winner.

No way Tennessee would bring back Pearl, even if Cuonzo is fired. Zero chance.

We aren't going to do this because our AD is not a complete idiot . . . and it would take a complete idiot to rehire a guy coming off a Show Cause that landed you on probation.

Why? We don't like going to the NCAA tourney? We don't like Sweet 16's and Elite 8's?

It doesn't make any sense to me. The man is a proven big time winner who led us to the greatest heights in program history. Yes he made a mistake but he has more than paid the price for it. Once the "show cause" expires, there is no good reason at all not to give him a 2nd chance.

I would be in favor of bringing Pearl back. It's not like what he did is unforgiveable. Another team will give him a second chance, but it won't be us.

Our team is missing that passion and will to win. That is a culture thing that has to be built. Bruce overachieved. I like Martin's basketball IQ, but he can't inspire the players to win the games they need to. Xavier early in the year is one of those "need to's..." Don't believe me? Let's chat in March.

I'm not as down on Cuonzo as a lot of you (in actuality, I think our 5-star Center is really a 3.5-star and we have a lot of decent young players who need time).

With that said, I'd take Pearl in a millisecond.

WTF is wrong with you? The dude is not our coach and is not coming back so what gives? You are either crazy or really believe this AD would actually hire back a guy that got a show cause and got our program put on probation. I don't agree with the penalties (most don't) but it is what it is. Why is it so hard to accept this? I don't understand.

Because he was an electrifying coach who quickened the fanbase and made basketball fun? Oh, he also won games and took them further than they've been before. Hmmm, maybe because he's passionate about Tennessee and loves the school.

Because this is the last time I cared about Tennessee mens basketball, I will always support them but this brand of basketball is not that enjoyable.

When we had Pearl we could beat anyone on any given night.

Tell me you do not miss his style of basketball compared to what we are watching now.
