CBP built the Men's basketball program., And took it to heights it's never been and probably wont be back to. (Hopefully im wrong of course.)

Seems like he would have more support from Vol fans. Of course he shouldnt have lied to the NCAA but c'mon Who hasnt kept up with a lie after being caught? Now just think if it was a multi million dollar situation.

I wish he would have just came clean, But im sure he was scared of losing his job. Cant blame him for that.

Maybe another year or 2 in the NIT and you guys will miss Bruce as much as i do.

Its all about the lying to the NCAA -- if Pearl had been upfront about it he would still be the coach

Yep lesson always tell the truth...CBP found out the hard way

I still don't know what "went down". They just randomly started playing like garbage.

I assume around the Oakland game Pearl knew his goose was cooked or at the least internally there was some kind of notion things were bad. That's the only explaination I can come up with why they went from a Top 10 team to out of the Top 25 in about a week.

If Pearl got the calls from.the NCAA that craft gets from NCAA referees he would still be coaching.

It is the most logical explanation. I've just never seen anything that confirms what actually happened.

If it were another program you'd say he got what he deserved.

Just because he was the Vol coach doesn't mean he gets blind support. You want to be mad at someone, be mad at him. Had he told the truth, he'd still be here.

He certainly didn't build it, but he took it a lot higher than it had ever been before, and maybe ever will go again. It sucks that things had to end the way they did, because having a nationally relevant basketball team sure was fun for the short little while it lasted.

I'm not much into conspiracies, but that is hard to ignore. He's allowed to completely rape and pillage, but anyone who comes near to him gets a whistle.

Guess we should just shut the program down since we'll obviously suck forever.

I didn't say that, just that we're light years away from being in the Top 10 like some of Bruce's teams were or being within one point of the Final Four. All of that was uncharted territory for UT basketball, and it was fun while it lasted. Given that in the 100 or so years leading up to that point those things had never happened, it's not unreasonable to think we might not ever achieve those heights again.

Yep, something leaked. I just wish the team hadn't of found out.

Whatever you do, don't blame the guy who actually lied.

The whole thing is bs. People screaming bloody murder about the lie while the majority of people in the world are lying their ass off everyday about things that are much more important. The sooner someone tears the AA apart and rebuilds that piece of crap, the better. JMO. :hi:

He had zero legitimate reason to fear termination if he had been honest with the NCAA from the beginning, because he would've received little more than a slap on the wrist.

He lied because...he's just a liar, period. It's his nature. That's why there's now a business in Knoxville called Alimony's.
