This is all a smokescreen. On a side note I saw Gruden at Barnes and Noble picking up an Idiots Guide to Coaching College Basketball.

That's fine, a lot of people want that and there's a chance you're gonna get that, it just won't be Bruce. There's plenty of other good candidates our there though, let's hope if a move becomes necessary that Hart looks to make a serious hire.

First of all, don't be a smartass. I never said we can go just "hire one off the street." There are plenty of successful programs out there that have coaches that have shown consistent success, likely at a mid-major level, who may be willing to listen to an offer to move up.

Please show me where I said anything about hating, much less disliking Pearl. You totally pulled assumption out of your :shaking2:.

I love Pearl. But I love this University more that I love ANY coach who coaches here, and there's a business decision that has to be made here. IMO, rehiring Pearl is too much of a risk for further penalizations from the NCAA. The moment we screw up something small, you can bet that communist organization will smack our program so deep down into the 6th circle of Hell that it would be 15-20 years before we ever recovered.

There's much more that goes into hiring a coach that just hiring "a proven winner," which Pearl is. The risk does not outweigh the reward. I would rather take a chance on another proven mid-major winner, who has no history of NCAA troubles, and give him a chance. This is just my opinion.

And, for the millionth time, you have no ability to know that for sure so you might as well move on. Yes, let's hope that they make a good hire, but it's time to stop trying to brow beat folks for saying they want Pearl. It's their opinion, they are entitled to it.

I know and I'm not saying that the only candidate should be Bruce and I can be realistic and realize that he will not be our next coach but it is a fun thought to entertain just because of how exciting he made Tennessee bball.

There are plenty of worthy candidates and I hope that when the time comes Hart does not botch this hire.

Whether we agree or not, at the end of the day we all just want Tennessee to succeed.

And I've never mentioned a conspiracy, I simply think if we drop Martin that both parties should have interest. I'd easily consider him a top ten coach in the nation.

While I think Pearl was a great coach he was not the greatest coach this university has ever seen. That would be Ray Mears hands down.

No it's not just my personal opinion. Those that have spoken directly with hart have said there is 0 chance. Pearl has told those close to him there's 0 chance. Tony Jones has told many people there's 0 chance. That's enough for me to realize, there's 0 chance.

As for being a top 10 coach, hell no.

You pegged him right. He has always hated Pearl, but doesn't know anything more than the next man. Hart has never outright excluded Pearl from ever returning unless he has made a resent statement to that effect.

You do know you don't have to read the Pearl threads right? I get that it spills over into other threads, and it gets old. But why not just let them ramble in these threads? Self control is a wonderful thing, you don't have to post in these threads and get all worked up over it.

If Hart fires CCM and doesn't even call Pearl, then he's a fool. It would make an instant splash with the fan base, he's one of the best in the nation, and he could be had at a bargain.

This statement from you continues to crack me up. I've got multiple signed pictures with Bruce and have pictures with Bruce and his family at his house.

I didn't/don't hate Pearl, the fact you can't differentiate the difference between hating him and simply saying he's not coming back is alarming.

Probably because almost every thread now is turning into a Pearl thread.

How about those that keep saying we HAVE to get Pearl back to name another coach they'd be happy with; without answering "Anyone but Martin".

This times a million. This place just loves to label people into absolutes. Fulmer, Dooley, Jones, Pearl, Martin, even Delmonico, it doesn't matter what coach we're talking about.

There's no proven coach we could make a legit play at, except Pearl.
