My favorite two kickers of all time would have to be Fuad Reveiz and Jeff Hall. What clutch kickers and Hall was so respected by his team that he was a captain on the 98 NT team. Now the worst kicker that has ever put on the Tennessee uniform is hands down Daniel Lincoln. Honestly how many games did this kid cost us in his career. He missed two field goals against LSU in 2007 that were chip shots. He missed the field goal against UCLA in 2008 in overtime. He missed three field goals against Bama in 2009 to cost us the game. He misses an extra point against UNC that would have won us the game. I think I could go on in on but you get the point.

Pointless thread is still (shockingly) pointless. He was damn near perfect last year.

He should have been perfect he only played in maybe half of the games last year. He was hurt he claimed! He then goes on to miss an extra point to cost us the Music City Bowl.

Agreed that Jeff Hall is one of the best...I def miss having him around...

And as far as Lincoln is concerned-he left much to be desired in the kicking game at UT, and before someone plays the "he was hurt" card I will say this....a player-any player, who had a job as critical as kicking extra points and field goals is and has a hurt leg but doesn't tell anyone is a son of a bich in my book. It would be different if it was an injury he could play thru, but to try and kick, when the main element of kicking is injured and u know it will effect ur ability to do ur job and yet u do it anyway...that's not "heart" or "giving ur all for Tennessee"-its just plain 100% stupidity.

It's a training staff's job to determine if a player is to injured to play. If Lincoln was trying to play through the pain and didn't tell anyone, yet the coaches allowed him to keep kicking, then someone wasn't doing the job he's paid to do.

He sucked. There is no defense.

In Lincoln's defense, he didn't actually miss three field goals against Alabama in '09.

No no no, he did miss them!! If you can not get adequate lift on your kicks, you blew it. Compare it to a pilot crashing into a mountain. We all know butterball Cody has zero hops.

He choked IMO TIFWIW JMO

Note: I think it is awesome and admirable that his aspirations are to serve this country in the Navy Seals. That withstanding, he seemed like such a douche. My least favorite kicker, possibly ever.

You mean the block in the MCB? Yeah. And that cost us the game...how? It was the difference between UNC playing for the win or playing for the tie. Hell, had that not been blocked, UNC very well could have driven down the field, scored, and the 10-second run-off could still not be in place.

How in the hell does an extra point get blocked without it being the kickers fault? I was at the game and haven't bothered to watch a replay, so I could be wrong, but not giving Lincoln the benefit of doubt.

IF they knew he was injured...from what I understand Lincoln didn't tell anyone-so I put that on his shoulders.

I will say this though, the staff we had in 2009 left much to be desired also. UT dodged a bullet and is lucky Kiffin bolted after 1 year...no telling what kind of trouble, past, present, and future that punk and his staff would have gotten us in if they were still here.

CDD is a man of integrity and has a brain to go along with it....he has us headed back to where Tennessee football belongs

The worst part about Lincoln was his I dont give a **** attitude. He made a comment after the Bama game in 2009 that it was just a game and that he wasn't that big a deal to him. Im so glad he's gone I hope they wont even allow back in the stadium.

Also yea, Lane Kiffin deserves half the blame for letting time tick away in the bama game and attempting an impossible field goal.

What era did he play? Was he good or bad?

the joke at the time was that after a game Phil was so distraught he climbed on a chair to hang himself but when he went to kick the chair out he missed.

Here's an example from the UT v Aub game in 87

Auburn's Freshman Kicker Wynn Lyle kicked two 50+ yard field goals while Tennessee's kicker Phil Reich missed two very badly, as in wide left by about 20 yards (I blame the holder, Randy Sanders).

Exactly! We were driving the ball down their throats, and he lets 20 - 30 seconds run off. We could have gained another 15+ yards, and Lincoln could have put more lift on the ball rather than hitting a line drive that starts out lower. I remember I was calling Kiffin every name in the book while that time ran off.
