I get it if you don’t buy things like WAR, OPS+, VORP that try to reduce everything to one number. But I don’t see how in 2022 you don’t see how empty AVG can be compared to SLG and OBP.

Typically yes, but there are also guys with solid OBPs who don't have great averages, so they don't always go together.

And looking at either BA or OBP in isolation is not factoring in how much power a player hits for. Hence the sabermetricians' preference for OPS. There is a method to the madness; it isn't gobbledygook made up to confuse people or to be different for the sake of being different.
