IMO , Brian could play another 4 or 5 years at a high level behind the plate. After that, he probably should go to the AL

Before the steroid era, the list of catchers who played at a high level into their mid-thirties only had a handful of names on it. I'd like to keep him too, but if some AL team offers him five or six years then you have to let him walk.

Im not saying he took them or anything, just wondering, do you think Piazza took anything or was he just a special player?

He's a catcher who played at a high level deep into his 30s, and whose career almost exactly coincided with the steroid era. I mean, I don't know he used anything, but I sure wouldn't wager against it. I would think that catchers would benefit from PEDs more than just about any other position in baseball.

Javy's best year was his contract year. He never came close to those numbers again. I think the Braves made the right decision with Lopez.

That's my point. This organization has basically let every legend not named Chipper Jones walk away for the past 20 years because it was the right baseball move to make. I don't see them waxing nostalgic about handing a bad contract to a 30 year old catcher.

Yep. And I still miss Andruw :(

He would seem to be the walking advertisement for steroids. They're easy to spot.
