Shea can play defense with anyone right now. I don’t buy that. Catcher is abysmal around the league…..
He will be 24 soon, correct? So you want him to be pushing 25 and still in the minors? He has played a lot of high level baseball. He is ready.I can completely understand why you want to take another year with Shea. Yeah he’s got a cannon and the reports on him are good. I’m fine with saying “Hey get him some reps in AAA and not rush him next year.” Now I agree with the guaranteed 2023 deal. I’m not a huge fan of that. But with catcher abysmal if we get to 2023 and TDA hasn’t fallen off a cliff, then we could easily trade that too.

HE PLAYED AT BAYLOR FOR 3 YEARS. And the USA national team. The level of competition isn’t that much higher. He only has 130 games of minor league game experience. Sean Murphy, the A’s catcher, had 235 games of experience for example. I’m just saying I can see why starting Shea in AAA in 2022 is probably for the best.
There are 2 things I consider when entering into a business agreement with someone. Would I trust the person to drive my daughter to the grocery store and am I considering the partnership based on what they have done in the past or what they can do for me in the future? While I would consider letting Trav take her to grab a case of Diet Coke, he is not my future catcher. Team Free Shea.
