The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness

Freddie and TDA boys or what??? Im
Sorry, 2 years is weird with our given setup…. Especially since we didn’t pay Duvall and rolled with Pache in CF this year.

This year proved there aren’t many veteran backup catchers worth signing and next few years are probably the same. The good ones are old and will retire. Locking TDA will not block Shea and Willie very long because one will be with team next year and the other just waiting for TDA to get hurt again. TDA becomes a valuable trade piece starting from the trade deadline next year for 2 more years.

Shea can play defense with anyone right now. I don’t buy that. Catcher is abysmal around the league…..

I can completely understand why you want to take another year with Shea. Yeah he’s got a cannon and the reports on him are good. I’m fine with saying “Hey get him some reps in AAA and not rush him next year.” Now I agree with the guaranteed 2023 deal. I’m not a huge fan of that. But with catcher abysmal if we get to 2023 and TDA hasn’t fallen off a cliff, then we could easily trade that too.

I’m still shocked the Freddie deal isn’t done…it’s gotta be about years right? Like he already makes $22-23M this year. You can easily take what Smyly makes and use that to add to Freddie even with Acuna’s pay bump. Freddie wanting like 7-8 and AA just doesn’t want to go past 5?

He will be 24 soon, correct? So you want him to be pushing 25 and still in the minors? He has played a lot of high level baseball. He is ready.

He only has 130 games of minor league game experience. Sean Murphy, the A’s catcher, had 235 games of experience for example. I’m just saying I can see why starting Shea in AAA in 2022 is probably for the best.

HE PLAYED AT BAYLOR FOR 3 YEARS. And the USA national team. The level of competition isn’t that much higher.

There are 2 things I consider when entering into a business agreement with someone. Would I trust the person to drive my daughter to the grocery store and am I considering the partnership based on what they have done in the past or what they can do for me in the future? While I would consider letting Trav take her to grab a case of Diet Coke, he is not my future catcher. Team Free Shea.
