They basically won’t go over $150M in payroll. Liberty Media and McGuirk isn’t approving $15M/year over 7 years for a guy who isn’t playing for them.

Yeah it will be lots of fun till it’s 2025 and we are paying a broken down 37 year old $2M to play LF because we got Scherzer’s deferred contract on the books for $15M and Liberty Media won’t increase payroll.

Ted Lerner and his organization spends whatever because they don’t mind paying and like winning. If Billionaire Ted was around throwing money wherever then sure I’d love to have Max. Liberty Media’s sole concern is making a significant profit and paying off debt while being competitive enough to draw fans, so I don’t want $15M/year for seven years to a guy who won’t be on the team which would significantly hinder us down the line.

Nats ain’t trading Max anyways so there’s no point to this argument.

Max and his 5 pitches are gonna be puttin up 0’s into his 40’s. He is Nolan Ryan.

Even if he were trading the Nats would be paying that deferred cash. They ain’t gonna get out of that. And they don’t care.

Just looked at the standings. Still hard to believe St.louis has only played 5 games.

I guess we should feel lucky it's only happened to 1 team
