An extension here and there is fine, but 5 or 6 of them and pocketing the savings as you completely punt on the free agent market isn’t a strategy. It’s Oakland A’s type crap. We've learned these extensions on young guys dont work.
Renew their contracts and take them to ARB to keep them hungry.
Spend Money in FA

My season ticket group has already decided to give them the finger for next year. They want us to make 3 year commitment at a 30% increase as they put complete slop on the field.
Which then begs the question…. If you weren’t going to use the savings to make free agent signings, why did you commit money to all these guys when they would have been cheap anyway? That’s its right here. It’s not even the extensions. It’s that they won’t go out and make commitments to good players on the markets after letting guys walk.
What’s the point of having Ronnie at $17M and Ozzie $9M when you won’t give Swanson or Fried market value? Why are you quibbling over one year on a Freddie Freeman extension? Why have you not signed one FA to more than a one year deal?

Let all that payroll walk. Bump in revenue from winning a WS, new ballpark and the Battery. We’re not trying to win.
Technically true, but I think what Z is saying is we’re still never in play for top 10 free agents. Everybody AA brings in is on a short deal or is discounted due to age injury baggage.
