The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

Fire Snit now. Fire AA.

Keep Baldwin, RAJ, and Schwellenbach

Everyone else is up for trade.

Release Iglesias by tomorrow

Iglesias is cooked. Blewett showed why he is on his 3rd team since opening day.

Meanwhile Kimbrel in AAA like:

We've learned these extensions on young guys dont work.

Renew their contracts and take them to ARB to keep them hungry.

Spend Money in FA
An extension here and there is fine, but 5 or 6 of them and pocketing the savings as you completely punt on the free agent market isn’t a strategy. It’s Oakland A’s type crap.

My season ticket group has already decided to give them the finger for next year. They want us to make 3 year commitment at a 30% increase as they put complete slop on the field.

That’s its right here. It’s not even the extensions. It’s that they won’t go out and make commitments to good players on the markets after letting guys walk.

What’s the point of having Ronnie at $17M and Ozzie $9M when you won’t give Swanson or Fried market value? Why are you quibbling over one year on a Freddie Freeman extension? Why have you not signed one FA to more than a one year deal?

Should have been a ten year contention window. A complete and total bungling of the treasure chest. We would’ve been better off with MLBTS being our GM than we were with AA.

Which then begs the question…. If you weren’t going to use the savings to make free agent signings, why did you commit money to all these guys when they would have been cheap anyway?

Let all that payroll walk. Bump in revenue from winning a WS, new ballpark and the Battery. We’re not trying to win.

He did...he's just suspended

AA preaches "cost-control" or "cost-certainty" more than any baseball GM I have heard. He thinks there is legitimate reasons to lock those guys as nothing more than cost-certainty instead of using those savings for other players. I mean, this guy has been GM going into year 8 and he has not given a multi-year guaranteed deal to a free agent SP that entire time, which is insane.

I will say the Braves have been top 6-7 in payroll the last few years. The Braves (whether ownership or AA) clearly mandated to get under the tax this year. And like Brown has repeatedly said, I'm fine letting Dansby walk. I'm fine letting Max walk. I was fine letting Freeman walk. But if you let those guys walk (legitimate all-star talent) your plan to replace them better be fool proof. And it hasn't been. Olson is very good. He's lived up to his contract. But Freddie is still A) Better and B) you gave up significant prospect capital to get Olson when Freddie only cost you money. Then we know about Dansby and Fried.

I still say with all of that, despite how infuriating AA has been, I don't necessarily blame him for that. What I do blame him for is letting Snitker infect this clubhouse. That dude should have been shown the door the moment Bryce Harper hit that home run off Elder. Instead, they kept him. And they are paying the price. Once Wash and EY left, the leadership in the clubhouse evaporated.

Technically true, but I think what Z is saying is we’re still never in play for top 10 free agents. Everybody AA brings in is on a short deal or is discounted due to age injury baggage.

Not even being in the conversation for Bryce Harper still irks me so much. That would have been the perfect guy at the perfect time. He makes $26M/year now which is a ****ing bargain. But AA couldn't see where salaries were going, heard $300M and chickened out.

I meant to clarify starting pitching. Trust me, he loves 3 year deals for relievers though!

I guess this is no longer true since he signed Lopez to a 3-year deal. Hilariously enough, he was a reliever they turned into a starter. So, I'm still sort of right!

You have about 6 weeks to figure out if you’re buyers or sellers at the deadline so here’s what needs to happen.
1a. Fire Snit. This team has been spinning its wheels since Wash left.
1b. Fire the hitting coach.
2. Remove Iglesias from the closer role TODAY. He’s just not right and we can’t keep blowing games waiting on him to figure it out.
3. Trade Murphy for a shortstop. This kills 2 birds with one stone. It would also open up a spot for Baldwin to play every day which is not going to happen as long as Murphy and Ozuna are both on the team.
4. Bench Verdugo. White was hitting it pretty good idk why he was the odd man out when RAJ came back.

If you do those things and still haven’t turned it around you have to be thinking sellers at the deadline. You could get some pretty good prospects for Ozuna and Sale. We need to restock the farm system with some bats
