You asked for it, you got it, Steve Earle

It’s goofy as hell. Typical pandering modern formulaic lowest common denominator “country” music for people with no taste.

But moreover, it has nothing to do with Tennessee or getting fired up. It’s about having an accent. Yeah…awesome. 🙄
I mean there is the line "And gets louder when I'm cheering on the Volunteers" which is in the clip they play

You don’t mean that. No TN fan can deny the existence of Rocky Top.

I love music. I’m sorry you feel that way.
I understand why people do. I just don’t. Especially music played at the game. I searched for music that is inspirational for me and I don’t expect it out in public that people are going to have music that I enjoy all the time.

The right song in the right setting can uplift the spirit. The same must hold true in that an inappropriate song can sour moods.

Neyland Stadium isn’t a place to chill on a Saturday night. Many of us find that notion offensive as we want to help the team win. It’s important to the home field advantage to create as much disruption towards our opponents as legally possible.

The 4th quarter is meant to be the final quarter to settle it all. The last thing we need for home field advantage is a song that fails to evoke passion among the fans. Morgan Wallen’s music is not about winning (I would argue “Friends in Low Places” was about winning against a disrespectful ex-lover). This Wallen slow song that I can’t understand the words to is very distracting from what we as home fans should be trying to provide for the home team.

I don’t care for Garth Brooks, but Low Places does have a certain “you can’t f- with me” to it.

“Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know, the last one to show
I was the last one you thought you'd see there
And I saw the surprise and the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you, said, "Honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain"
'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be OK”

Might I suggest If You Want Blood (You Got It) by ACDC? No ties to Tennessee and would be tough to sing along to, but I think it would convey that Neyland Stadium and Vol fans are not to be effed with.

If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
Blood on the streets
Blood on the rocks
Blood in the gutter
Every last drop
You want blood
You got it

I'm not saying it's one song. I'm saying Wallen is a prime example of that sound.

But there are honest country musicians out there. Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, and Marcus King come to mind. I'd throw Zach Bryan and Chris Stapleton (in spite of his mainstream success) in that group.
But Morgan is from Knoxville. Went to school at Gibbs. It’s why they play him. He is directly from the local area. Regardless if you like the music it should be more than enough of a reason to want his music to be played at games.

Corny imo. AC/DC is very dated and I find most of their music to be dorky.

So much for supporting local music, I guess!

Old man yells at cloud energy here.

Dude is the number one country singer and you’re saying people have no taste. Come on now I get it if you don’t like it, but a lot of people do.

I just wish he would go back to the person he was. I still see the extremely nice and quiet 12-13 year old boy that did amazing Casting Crown covers while singing with his mom and sister. He was quite good on the piano.

On some level, I get it.

I mean, Lee Greenwood and God Bless the USA are like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Still, I can’t control that most people want to put that caterwauling asshat on par with Ray Charles’ America the Beautiful or Whitney Houston’s The Star Spangled Banner.

🤷🏻‍♂️
