The main problem with today's music is that it is just simply over produced. The fake high hat sounds and bass lines in modern rap is the same stuff we've been hearing in modern country, which makes it not country, it some kind of pop/rap/country thingy. Real original lyrics too....dirt roads (they couldn't find a dirt road if their life depended on it), moon shine, pick-up trucks...lol. Zack Top is a really good modern country artist. I have high hopes for him. Some modern rockers are trying to do the right thing, but they can't break through. Many still try to over produce their work. Dirty Honey is a good exception. Rap still sucks. Same thing, different poetry, only more nasty and brutal in some cases.

"The Bakersfield Sound" made a huge impact on country music at that time. Love those ol' Buck Owens songs, with Don Rich singing harmony and twanging out solos on his telecaster.

I'm in the camp of "enjoy and appreciate the classics" while it's still OK to "kick back, have a beer, and redneck it out with what the kids like." I didn't like MW when I first heard him, but with the windows down, on the lake, or with some corn hole boards, TN can grow on you.

And I'm not a fan of the hyper-produced country stuff, but I've heard Wallen acoustic, and I would love to jam with him by a campfire.

This shouldn't be as hard to understand as some make it out to be.

This is because in the 1990s thru 2000s, mediocre programs could only get their fans to get into the game with overrated songs and claim it's a "tradition"

The truth is no one really gives a damn about that BS because real programs with tradition and fanbases don't need it

Also, why do we HAVE to have a 4Q song? Florida started it with Tom Petty because it works for them. He’s from the area. “I Won’t Back Down” is a great proclamation for the 4Q. It’s their tradition. Let them have it and stop trying to mimic it. It’s like Kentucky trying to copy our checkerboard…pathetic.

But instead of a great rock artist, we’ve got some goofball wannabe country hip hop phony prancing around popping his shirt and bragging about talking with a country accent to the mouth breathing masses who think it’s something pithy because they too passed the 6th grade.

A nurse used I worked with dated him in high school. His dream was to be a rapper. That should tell you all you need to know about him. Not that there’s anything wrong with rap just that he’s fake.
