I felt for a while that if the tariffs on Canada held I was going to have to do my patriotic duty and consume extra bourbon. I blame Canada for taking away my excuse.

Fentanyl and its analogs are much more powerful than heroin...and they aren't going anywhere. 1 bottle of the liquid form of the drug can produce several Kilos of powder product that people actually sell and use. This fact that the bottles of liquid from China can make hundreds of thousands of dollars EACH make Fent the drug that everyone wants to sell. Extremely high profit margin, higher than any other drug. Easy to smuggle, especially the analogs which are known as "research chemicals"...they can simply be ordered from the internet.

I dont know how we will ever get past this opiate plague destroying the nation. It began with crooked pill mill doctors over prescribing pain pills...then the feds intervened and locked up a few Doctors. Now most doctors and hospitals will not give opiates to even patients who need them the most ...they get referred to pain management rackets that are insanely expensive and treat all their patients like scumbag addicts. Its horrible for folks who are stuck with terrible pain for the rest of their lives. They are royally screwed now, and many end up on fentanyl. My BIL died from fent. All the guys he knew on fent had started on pain pills from surgeries, car accidents, etc. Ended up addicted to opiates, and fentanyl was all they could afford to be able to function, to not be sick from withdrawal and in severe pain. Its a nightmare life...and the cavalry ain't coming to save the day. I dont see any solution to the opiate crisis. New addicts are created every day. Every time somebody blows out a knee, or a shoulder, gets hurt on the job, or has a car accident. As long as opiates are the only way to deal with severe pain...there will be a thriving fentanyl industry.

We are still having significant OD’s with heroin and fentanyl mixed. Not sure if it’s the mix they are getting wrong or the user underestimating its strength.
People are still dropping.

A lot of the deaths come from fake pain pills. People think they are buying percocet etc off the street...but they are actually identical copies made with fentanyl. To a person thats opiate naive with no tolerance, a single pill with 2mgs of fentanyl can be fatal. HS or college kids thinking they are just taking a pain pill after drinking a couple beers wind up dead. Same thing with laced cocaine. People think they are just snorting a little coke to wake up from all the alcohol they have consumed...instead the fentanyl hits them and is multiplied by the depressant alcohol which is already in their system. They pass out and quit breathing immediately. Sad situation IMO.

That’s exactly how it happens. From what I’m hearing some of the drug dealers don’t even know how strong it is.
We dose 100 micrograms in icu for pain. It will drop bp and respiratory drive. Imagine that times 20
