Thanks Dont'e I’m sure this will help recruiting

Their point is there is no evidence on film of them running those routes.. UT has a truncated route tree with not a lot of intermediate routes its all short or GO...its mostly run to a spot. Its not that they are saying these guys can't run the routes because they play in this offense its they don't have FILM and without FILM it does not count. They want ot see it on film so they can break down their hips and so on. their ability to create separation. In this offense its mostly the scheme that creates separation. This is not a knock on the scheme; it works. It allows you to be successful with WR's who might be limited. The downside is it puts a stigma on these who play in it and kind of stifles growth to some extent. You can practice the whole route tree but if you're not doing it in game its not the same. Just like you see videos of Ben Simmons or Angel Resse draining threes in the offseason it does not translate into the season. Trust me Reesse will be bricking layups again this season. Same with running routes its not something you just start doing.. its a craft you hone over years and learn facing many opponents. There is a reason people minds get blown when they find out Jerry Rice ran a 4.71. He looked fast on the field and was always open.. because routes. Good Route running can make you look faster than you are because you create separation over faster players.

Yes. Running routes is about quick twitch muscle and not tipping off the defender to what you are going to do as well as repetition of the routes to and chemistry with the QB. Every play is a cat and mouse game using their physical and mental abilities. It's a very specialized skill set that NFL teams want to see on film.

for sure its an art. Jerry Rice used to say you make every route look the same so they don't know until it's too late. A lot of corners can read WR's because if they're gonna run certain routes, they line up different or have a giveaway or it obvious when its a run play or designed for someone else because of body language.

Equally brief. We need to actually execute Heupel's offense.
Heupel calls the plays, so we have been executing his offense. That's on him if he's not calling plays from his offense.

If we lack the talent to execute the plays he'd prefer to call, we need to recruit and develop better. That's also on him.

Hyatt couldn’t catch a cold under Burns. He blew up in 2022 under Pope.

Yeah, I still attribute Hyatt snd Keyton’s success in 2022 to what they learned in 2021. Tillman, Jones Jr, shined under Burns as well. Hard to say really when you also have an OC change. I think that’s hurt us as much as anything else.
