Thanks alot Phil and Erik

I have to say I agree. All season I would see him throw to the safe receiver for 3 yards when there as a man open deep that would take some guts to throw to. What would Manning do?

Erik broke some records this year, but what would he have done if he threw half of his passes across the line of scrimage?

Nevermind that he was about all we had on offense in several games this year.

Manning would throw the same hitches, slants and quick outs . . . except he threw them to Joey Kent and MArcus Nash.

Agree GV. Also like to point out all the players reading these sites that are being recruited for UT have to think some UT fans sure are a fickle/non appreciating sort.

If fanhood is all about making villains out of your team members, I may hang 'em up as a Vol fan.

Such venom against your own is ignorant.

Erik has done what Cut has had him do all year. Unfortunately, Erik choked in the fourth quarter--I don't like it, but this is ridiculous.

:realmad:

And how is what we do here any different from any other program worth a damn? People are pissed off that our Senior Qb lead us down the path to the championship only to get lost on the off ramp.

I think disappointment is only natural, but the willingness of a lot of fans to throw players under the bus is pathetic.

Uh, no....I have said since he had his little "mental breakdown" he didn't need to be our quarterback.....I don't need/want someone who has to be rebuilt "emotinoally" as a starter who faces pressure.

And if you think recruits just scan message boards as to where they go to school you're nuts....many things factor in but if you'll think back to when you were 16-18 and being recruited, hot girls, beer, etc. played a much larger role than what fans say on a message board did...I mean really, it's half a joke anyways, relax.....

Erik Ainge is not "King of the Dink"...

TENNESSEE FOOTBALL IS KING OF THE DINK.

Get your story straight.
Anybody who has watched tennessee football for the past 15 years or so KNOWS this already.
As a previous poster mentioend, the big difference is that past QBs were throwing to better receivers (and MUCH better RBs out of the backfield).

Guys, as frustrated as we are that we didnt win; Erik is a 22 years old "man" that is learning.

He's is college, and as much as he frustrated us, HE"S IN COLLEGE.

Let it go.

Hell, I seem to remember when towards the end of Majors' career (when i was in school there), that we seemed to KING OF RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE.

or was it KING OF RUN IT OFF TACKLE AND GET STUFFED EVERY TIME?

We must have been in school at the same time....I graduated in '93......I well remember run it up the middle Johnny.....

Ainge lost us the SECCG. Period. End of story.

I'm not saying he didn't play a huge roll in GETTING us to that game, but that doesn't mean he doesn't need to be kicked in the nuts for two boneheaded throws which cost us the game.

You two just proved you cant handle pressure. I would LOVE for anyone to please give me some solid evidence that these 2 dont buckle in big games. I am so pi$$ed i about threw the remote thru my 50" DLP. I am sick sick sick of this crap every year. Hey CPF no winney no money. Take your mediocre a$$ back to Winchester. The only extension you should get is an extended vacation.

Dude...your whole post is crap...

I have my own problems with the coaching staff...but Phillip Fulmer did NOT throw those interceptions...

John Chavis didn't miss a single tackle or assignment on defense (I'm not trying to cut the D, I thought they played well for the most part)...

David Cutcliffe didn't miss Rogers being open across the middle and throw it outside for a pick that was run back...

Cutcliffe didn't drop a fourth down pass that hit him right in the numbers...

I have issues with playcalling and player development...but these coaches are not responsible for the things that lost the game last night...

I know it's wrong to put a loss on any player or group of players but Ainge and our receivers blew it for us last night....pure and simple

That is 100% accurate.

As much as I agree with your previous post, I think that attitude is utterly worthless.

exactly. punishment for bad plays seems to me a Uday Hussein approach to better results. How'd that work for Iraq?

So now that we've established that it's the players execution at fault, is it recruiting or player developement after their 1 st practice?

Who knows?? I doubt the coaches ever expected their Senior QB to make such a horrible decision though. It's tough to explain.
