Just received a text from a friend who works in the Sports Department at the Knox News Sentinel, and he said:
"Word around the sports department at the sentinel is that Lovie Smith is the guy!"

Wipe your ass with it for all I care, but it's the most substantial piece of news I've heard lately.

I have read on here for a while, and I know I just joined to give my .02 but someone has a source to back up what they are saying... Im keeping my fingers crossed

At some point, these people will eventually be right and claim that they actually knew something, but they pretty much destroyed their credibility with the Troy Calhoun and David Cutcliffe fiascos.

Did anyone listen to the Knoxville radio this morning and they said talks w/ Cutcliffe had stalled because he said he would only take the job if he could bring his entire staff from Duke...anyway after that they said that late last night the University had contacted Kyle Whittingham. That's the only info they gave but it got my hopes up a bit.

Greatly hope it is true....

As for the Knox News, they have confirmed that we have hired 13 different coaches already. WE know more than they do.

I think he is also the only coach I have yet to hear mentioned. :crazy:

Someone on here supposedly talked to Haslim and he said Lovie was a no go. Then again, I don't know what to believe anymore.

I'm not wiping with my BlackBerry but that's about as much faith that I've put in all of these reports.

Nothing personal but there are about 2,000 other threads that have said almost verbatum about every other candidate.

Would take Cutcliffe over Lovie.... Has anyone seen the bears in the last 3 years??? And they play in a week division

Is this the same Knox News Sentinel - Sports Department that proclaimed to much fanfare that Cutcliffe was our guy just yesterday?
