Texas or USC?

Trust me. My bro played college football and my stepdad has been a varsity coach for years.

I know how recruiting works.

Your lone argument was number of 4 and 5 stars which is subjective and doesn't take into account how many 4 and 5 starts flop.

At the end if the day i think CA has more talent. You can disagree but your points are no more valid than mine.

Seems legit.

Indeed they could.

Franklin aside, who do you like for the coaching gig? Who are some viable candidates?

I think they have to look at Briles and Patterson. I think they could also talk Gundy into leaving, but I'm not sure if Gundy would be happy with the fishbowl created by the Longhorn Network.

It wouldn't shock me if they made a run at Hugh Freeze.

Les Miles and Saban missing from this list. You thoughts on Bama stepping to match an offer has been well chronicled, but you know they are going to come.

Dude recruiting rankings are a joke. WHen the states top players played in an all-star team CA never lost. Not once.

And look at the state that produces most pro athletes. It's CA. Who cares what some fat idiot sitting behind a keyboard at rivals thinks.

Tell that to bama recruiting rankings are a joke.:eek:lol:

The question was who are the viable candidates. Miles and Saban are not viable candidates.

I still say Richt is a very viable option. I do not see him taking UGA any farther than he has. His one chance to win a NC was last year and he did not. Even as a UA fan I will admit UGA had the top roster of players starting for them. He fits the profile of the type of coach you would expect at Texas. We know he can recruit, so just think what he could do in Texas. Not to mention he has to be looking at this now like Meyer did. He could go to Texas and be competing every year for NC. How many times can CMR be a bridesmaid.

LSU to UA for Saban

UGA to Texas for Richt

Both similar paths.

I would think Chris Peterson would be a top target for USC. I know he had turned down several big school offers, but I think it might be starting to sink in that he has accomplished as much as he can at Boise. Plus the new playoff system and conference expansion have created a wider divide between the haves and have nots and, simply put, Boise is on the wrong side.

Saban didn't leave LSU for UA. He left for the NFL.

I did not mean to imply he did. But I believe the NFL job came at a time that he realized LSU was not going to help him accomplished his goals, which he has been able to do at UA. He always wanted to try his luck at the NFL and the SEC was not the conference in 2004 it is now.

The fact is Texas will make a great hire and they will go after a proven HC from a top program. They will want a coach who can recruit, build a great staff, and win games. Texas no matter who they hire will get their share of instate kids, so hire a HC who can tap other recruiting hotbeds. If I am looking for a HC why not go after someone in the best conference that has proven he can win 10 games year and recruit top classes as well in that conference. Someone that has major connections with HS coaches in 2 SEC strongholds like GA and FL.

Saban is not leaving UA and Miles is not leaving LSU. That leaves you with one other HC that could fit that mold and that is CMR at UGA. Like everyone said it is a dream job and even better than Meyer at OSU.

Not really.

Saban would win as many titles at LSU as he has at UA. Thinking anything else is just being straight up homer. Saban could go to a number of schools and do what he has done in the last 5 years, hes just that good.I would send Rich Rod a gift card on occasion.
