This all really sucks at High School level too. Kid missed his junior season of baseball. Only 4 games in. Sat out junior year of football to heal up. Planning on going back for senior season. If there is onw now. There's gonna be a lot of parents on the hook for tuition since the kids are losing exposure for scholly's, not to mention totally losing out on why a lot of kids play HS sports to begin with. My just wants to enjoy playing baseball and football in HS. Not happening. Been a starter in football since MS except for HS freshman season. But, paid his dues in baseball and just got full time starting position. Rotated about 50% last year but was still injured form weightlifting. He's OK with the online classes, but he wants to be out on the diamond something awful.

No vaccine till 2021 pretty safe bet that there will be no football even without fans. You going to take that chance with 100 players on each team in very close proximity to each other. One player or coach gets infected you have to shut the whole season down just like the NBA did.
I agree. For the sake of argument I would like to see contingency plans for a shortened season but with limited or no practice, even if they did play, it would make for a sloppy season.

Honestly no one knows at this point. Medical professionals and scientists don't even know at this point. IF this virus is still around come fall which is likely then football is very unlikely to be played. IF a vaccine were somehow developed way ahead of schedule there is a very unlikely chance that football would return on a later schedule.

Chancellors, ADs, coaches, etc have no idea what is going to happen yet. Heck I would say there is a real possibility that football isn't back by next fall either unfortunately.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying no one knows what will happen. You made a definitive statement. You don't know, and I don't know, so making a statement like that this early is rather arrogant and not defensible at this point.
LOL...Definitive statements are made on VN all the time, no? situation is very fluid...could be better than expected...could be worse. Personally, I'm having a problem backing into the timeline which would work for college football to be played this year. This thing won't just "be over" by the time players are to report. Social distancing is going to be a "thing" for awhile, and just don't see how student athletes will be put in harms way for so the NCAA and schools can make their billions.

I tend to agree with your viewpoint, personally, but no one really knows. I was surprised that MLB is looking into beginning baseball in May. College football is big money, and money talks, so we will see in the months ahead. Also, my point about definitive statements is not that they're made or not made, but that making them as fact is a bit unwise. Making those statements as opinion is healthy and worth the banter.

We won’t have football this season.

The frequency with which you pop into threads to espouse this belief does nothing to negate you sounding like a complete fool, contrary to what you've deluded yourself into believing, because there absolutely will be collegiate football this season.

Will fans be in attendance? Maybe. Will the season start in September, will it boast an unabridged schedule? Unclear! Is every Power 5 school going to participate? Perhaps not. But with the way this "calamity" is under-delivering, there's simply no way that such a lucrative revenue stream is going to remain completely dry

It seems some are actually rooting for the virus with their constant negativity

We will see, but the truth is nobody even then the best doctors and smartest doctors know what this virus will do. They do believe it will last thru the summer heat and get stronger in the fall for the second wave.

None of the models the best or smartest doctors use say the virus will last past June. The models are also shrinking every time they release the new findings, 2 million people would die, then 200K, then 100K, then 80K and now 60K they also expect that number to shrink again this weekend. They also got the number of hospitalizations wrong, the number of ICU beds needed was way off along with ventilators. You act as if things are getting worse when in reality there are a lot of positive things happening. Also Dr. Fauci he expects kids to go back to school in August and says we will be much better prepared come fall. So please, quit trying to stoke fear

the 5 minute test could save the season if they can produce enough quickly.

I don't think it's fear, it's the reality of the situation. If they cancel summer classroom courses, it's over. All of us are wanting things to get back to normal but normal is not on the horizon. The "models"are not what's keeping us from normal. Go around and try to act normal and people will think you're crazy.

I’m not saying this isn’t serious, but the current restrictions do t do much. I travel construction for work. The only thing shut down is a restaurant. Almost everything else is “essential”. Went to Lowe’s for a drill bit for my “essential” work. People were in line all the way to the tool isle standing butt to crotch. It seems to me the restaurants should open with half capacity. People going in groups to grocery stores. People going to check cashing places. I don’t see the distance anywhere. This virus started with a few cases in washington under normal conditions. It’s blown up to 400k with restrictions on restaurants. So 400k cases restricted like they are now will only be 800k in a few weeks. They have to either open it up and let young healthy people build immunity or shut it all down. The “ essential” workers stuff is a joke

There are 2 summer sessions and they will have no bearing on Fall Classes starting at the end of August. Tennessee very well may move summer classes to online only to work towards opening in August. It is fear, you guys are going around screaming dooms day scenarios. Telling us life is over as we know it, things will never be normal again, this is your new normal blah blah blah
