Tennessee's Hardest Hitters

Raynoch Thompson could lay the wood. Jason Parker could lay the wood. Craig King's hit against that Ohio State player on a kickoff was a nice blast. J.J McCleskey, for his size, could hit hard. The list goes on.

don't know if anyone remembers, but Greg Johnson laid out a guy for UCLA in '94 on the opening kickoff. actually fractured a bone in his own face from that hit. one my favorite hits ever.

Since everything is over and we have been arguing over the attractiveness of Brittany Jackson and Ace Clement, I figured I'd pose a question that would get us nostalgic for defensive greatness at UT.

So: Who are the hardest hitters to play for UT?

Personally I'd go with Fred White and Al Wilson.

Please tell me someone remembers the hit White laid on Bo Carrol in the Florida game. I forget the year, I want to say it was at the Swamp, but I remember that hit. Maybe the hardest I've seen while watching UT football.

Pretty sure I remember the hit you are talking about, but wasn't it Eddie Moore that laid him out?

Most of you young Bucks don't remember but Bill Bates was "The Man" and anyone that went to Farragut back in the mid 80's remember the "Bill Bates Slobber Knocker Club".

:bash:

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Torri Noel. If my memory serves me correctly, he had two huge hits in the '95 and '97 alabama games. And I think at least one of them was on Shaun Alexander.

Someone failed to mention that to Herschel Walker.

Yep, I was scanning the thread to see who would mention Raynoch first....he was sooo consistant. He would find somebody to sting on EVERY play.
As an odd side note, many people don't know how good of a DB T.D. Woods was before going strictly WR @ UT. I hated hitting or getting hit by him. It was a different kind of hit....more like a metal pole than a truck(A.Wilson).
