Since everything is over and we have been arguing over the attractiveness of Brittany Jackson and Ace Clement, I figured I'd pose a question that would get us nostalgic for defensive greatness at UT.

So: Who are the hardest hitters to play for UT?

Personally I'd go with Fred White and Al Wilson.

Please tell me someone remembers the hit White laid on Bo Carrol in the Florida game. I forget the year, I want to say it was at the Swamp, but I remember that hit. Maybe the hardest I've seen while watching UT football.

Al Wilson and Gibril Wilson. Bo Jackson said in an ESPN interview that the hardest hit he ever took was from one Kelly Ziegler, a UT player in the mid 80's. Coach Ziegler coached the LBs and RBs at my high school.

I can still hear the hit Westmoreland delivered to that Vandy player who coughed up the ball for a touchdown return. That was the second UT game I saw in person. I was eleven years old when we had that incredible season back in '98. I really hope Phil gets to experience that feeling one more time before he rides off into the sunset.

That's a huge compliment because Bo Jackson is a certified GAM.

from what i've seen out of nevin mckenzie's highlight video's, he could really knock some people out in the fall.

I played football for Ziegler all through high school and he is a scary guy when he's pissed. He used to tackle the linemen in full pads during practice if they upset him.

That was a great one. Westmoreland coaches at Baylor in Chattanooga now

Al freaking Wilson.

After Inky, I think Nevin McKenzie will be the hardest hitter on the team, at least on the tap he hits pretty hard.

Gibril was definitely a hard hitter.

All the aforementioned guys could lay the wood...Eddie Moore hasn't been mentioned, but he could bring it too.

I was about to say that. Darn you beat me too it. Was it Rashae Caldwell or Javar Gaffeney he killed during the Florida game in 2001?

Gibril Wilson '03 vs. Kentucky. Vicious hit on a sniffed-out screen play.

That and Al in the '98 Florida Game vs. Doug Johnson. "Full-blown AIDS" sick.

Leonard Little on Freddie "I ate everything in the" Kitchens in the '95 Bama game. I think Kitchens must have a scar under his chin from that one.

No question. Though Steve Kiner does bear serious consideration before summary dismissal.
