Tennessee wins. Does Dooley officially pass the hot seat to Muschamp?

What progress?

CP filled a spot when everyone thought Da'Rick's loss was a huge blow, top 25 ranking(whether its proven or unproven), you could say we have progressed off our injuries from last year. You can't really think we haven't made progress from last year, right?

You are pathetic. He has done nothing thus far? You either have no grasp of the game of college football, don't understand the dumpster fire Dooley took over, or live on another planet.

Dooley is not even close to being on the "hot seat". Honestly, it is not even warm. Our program has done a 180 since he took over. If you can't see and understand that, then you should do us all a favor and stop posting in the FF.

Most everyone realizes he took over a mess, but he hasn't had time to do a 180 yet. Most everybody was pointing to year 3 as when you see what you have with him. So technically he hasn't.

We have beat a mid level ACC squad, and a glorified high school team. So truthfully we still are not sure how good we are yet.

He has several conference games coming up that will tell us what we need to know, starting this week.

Dooley has never been on the "hot seat". It's just stuff for writers, talking heads, and moronic fans to talk about while waiting for the next game.

^^THIS^^ Hart has even said Dooley isn't on the HOT SEAT back in the summer.

We Gators tend to not be so irrational as to call for the head coach's head based on one or two losses.
I'm looking at how he's doing on recruiting, whether he can turn around the discipline/penalty problems, and whether we are headed in the right direction in terms of building an offensive scheme.

Defensively, we are as good as one can hope. Offensively we are a wreck. Need to have continuity at coordinator, need to go find us some top flight QB and WR talent....

The winning will follow.

Apparently you don't remember Ron Zook...

What has he done that indicates to you that he is here for the long haul? Enlighten me.

I like CDD and want him to succeed but IMO he has shown nothing so far to indicate he is here for the long haul. It doesn't mean he can't. He's got a great opportunity to prove he belongs this season and it starts this weekend.

^ This  If CDD is not here for the long haul, then why take the job in the first place. He's said this is his destination job and I hope he's here for a very long time. I don't believe even Nick Saban could have done a better job than CDD has with the mess he inherited. We are on our way back, win, lose, or draw Saturday. But it'll be a win, with many more to follow.

we beat a middling ACC team and a very weak FCS team, both of which had a much easier time moving the ball vs the Vols than against their other weaker opponent. To say we have made great progress is premature, and to call someone that doubts such, "pathetic", is a bit over the top.

As for Dooley vs Muschamp, it is really hard to get fired f football reasons after 2 years...like Larry Porter at Memphis bad is what it takes.

I don't think Muschamp would be on it. Dooley would get off of it. But Muschamp went 1-1 on the road isn't too bad. Especially one being a ranked team.

Dooley isn't on hot seat. Much better than muschamp. I'm so glad we have a coach with a fun offense to watch, not this boring old man, run the football.

Win or lose,Muschamp is a badbadbad hire..loose cannon and the players reflect it in their temperment and performance..He will NOT be the Florida coach in 2014 short of a couple of 10 win seasons

I hope his is there for at least ten more years!

if muschamp loses 4-5 games, he's on the hot seat. they have a tough schedule with UT, lsu, uga, usc and fsu.

He has had enough time to show you what kind of program he is building in the last two years. If you can't see that, I'm sorry for you as a Vol fan and alumnus.

Last year he would have surprised some people. We tend to forget that he had his two best defensive players not play at all last season and his two best offensive players missed a good portion of the season. This was on a team that was already young and inexperienced.

Is this a serious question?

If you are a delusional fan that only cares about immediate wins and losses regardless of the state of the program and how it got there, then no. There is nothing that I could say that will persuade you.

However, if you are even a slightly reasonable Vol fan that has paid close attention to the program, his body of work from day one speaks for itself.

this is so over the top as to be ridiculous...4-12 SEC in 2 yrs, and yet you feel it is beyond question that he has UT on the path back to being a permanent fixture in the top 10?...good grief. That's just silly.

Maybe he will, maybe he won't, but the idea that the jury is not out on that question would and should be laughed at by all non vols.

yeah it sure is easy to win in the SEC with 17-18 true freshman playing and less than 85 schollys on a roster please enlighten me on your coaching abilities and running a program that was in a mess

You still haven't answered the question. What is his body of work?

For me to state that I like CDD and want him to succeed is reasonable. But the facts don't lie. He has yet to win a game that means anything, and he failed to beat the worst KY team in recent memory that had a WR playing QB.

To suggest that he's done a complete 180 with this program is silly. Now, for being reasonable again, CDD had a huge opportunity this weekend. If he wins, he's got a key signature victory in his pocket. He will take a big step with a win. But it doesn't end there.

No one is saying that he hasn't been dealt a rough hand with attrition and so on. But to suggest that CDD has things completely turned around is crazy. He may end up getting us there, but so far you can't say that we're back. We've looked good so far, but let's go through an entire slate of SEC games first and see where it ends up.

This really isn't as complicated or as divisive as everybody makes it out.

Dooley has recruited Tennessee back to a full roster of largely SEC players. That's the main thing we needed from whoever we hired in January 2010. Mission accomplished.

Everyone assumed at the time that he got 3-4 years to prove himself. This is year three. Losing to UK last year was a really bad loss, and probably cost him the benefit of the doubt this year. He has to show something this year.

The NC State win was huge for him. Now he needs to beat UF and get that monkey off our back. If so, the benefit of the doubt is back on. If not, then he's got to start finding some SEC wins because that NC State win will get pretty hollow pretty fast.

Part 2: assuming he gets to next year, which he should unless there's a complete collapse, what happens then? The whole team right now is based on three guys who will, if the season goes as we hope, probably go to the draft. What if he wins 9 games this year but falls back to 6 or 7 next year?

Who said we should have won the sec? It seems to me (and any reasonable person) that there is a wee bit of space between 1-7 in the sec and being in atlanta in early december...that the injury handicap was enormous and yet does not excuse 10 quarters without a td...that there was not tremendous depth and yet that doesn't excuse players quitting in games time after time.

It's a new year...maybe that's behind us. This weekend a barometer and I am optimistic.

If you believe the reports about the Athletic dept w over a 3 M deficit in 2011 , you know that UT simply doesnt have the $ to fire him. How we get so broke when other athletic depts are beyond rich?

should it come to that the $$ will not be an issue...also the "loss" is not really an operating loss...
