Tennessee under NCAA investigation over use of recruiting hostesses

This kinda feels like a punch to the gut. On a scale of 1-10...how worried are you... Honestly I'm at an 8/10? Am I just fear mongered?

Fear has become a hot commodity. It is pushed more than anything else in these dismal times. I'm taking the "wait until tomorrow" approach to this one to see if I should be worried.

After looking at the scope of this, it probably won't impact football too much. It will be an athletic department issue rather than just a football thing. This would be good in regards that even if Tennessee was handed down a major violation, it wouldn't affect the program as in striping away bowl games or scholarships. It would mainly affect valuable practice and recruiting time.

Well im glad some of you are more confident than I am. It just seemed odd to have all these coaches leave the week before this is announced. Probably worrying over nothing , fingers crossed.

Something I am sure that others are aware of as well, namely other SEC coaches.

I'm not worried right now, but I have a feeling that around NSD the NCAA could try and kick us in the C.O. Jones, IMO.

That's why we need to get all of our early enrollees enrolled. :) This sounds like much ado about nothing, unless the investigation is wider than just the hostess thing.

Of course they are while they are hosting recruits, but the burden of proof will be on the NCAA as to whether they were sent by the university to games or encouraged to text recruits. If they can't prove it, then they have nothing.

Dude, you honestly think that they are shooting the breeze with some 17 year old kid for their own good?? Come on.

They will have to prove that they are not, and I guarantee you "Come to UT!" is not a text message that any hostess sent any recruit. If you watch what they post on Facebook and even the care which they take not to discuss recruits and their prospects of attending this university you would realize that the utmost care has been taken here.

As far as the signs, that isn't any different than any sign students make for the recruits urging them to attend UT, UNLESS they were sent by the University. But the NCAA is going to have a hard time proving that.

lets hope they don't investigate why a certain alpha chi at bama was kicked out of her sorority just shortly after julio committed to bama...
