Yeah, that game at Auburn last October was awfully low-pressure. Same for game in November vs top 15 Kentucky at home....not to mention that second half vs Georgia last September when Tennessee was making a game of it due in large part to his 2 TD passes? How about that game at SCar when he completed about 70% of his passes for 2 tds and no ints? In all those games he had pressure to perform as well as he could, at a high enough level to give his team a chance to win, and he did.
Smith was in fine shape last year. He was never limited in S&C last year, just in contact.
I wonder how much his injuries slowed him down during the 2018 season. He hurt an ankle pretty early in the WVU game.
Because the Auburn and Kentucky games negate the Charlotte, UTEP, ETSU, and Vandy performances, along with erasing the fact that he only managed 12 TDs the entire season and ended it with -94 rushing yards?
JG has always looked pretty good in the low-pressure controlled environment of practice. We'll see if he's improved or not come 8/31.
I truly do hope that in 2019 he actually performs well enough that you don't have to come on and champion his completion percentage and his QB rating instead of TDs and wins, and is actually deserving of the boner you have for him.
