The LVs were playing well early in the season. Losing Shipman was a setback, but that was almost two months ago and Phillips and Weimer are both serviceable catchers. Frenetically moving players around feels desperate. It has to affect the team's confidence. But still, players have to make the plays.

They've been getting worse and worse for a month. The self-destruction is hard to watch.

It is sad to watch and now you can see it on the players faces. We really fell off at the end last year we need a spark.

3 innings down we have 1 hit total! I thought this year would be different the way we attacked the ball early and midway through the year. Just as the last few years they seem to regress as we get to the finish line. Looks like it will be the fourth year in a row they don’t make it out of regionals/super regionals.

And right there's part of the breakdown. Leach isn't getting on base. She used to be money, but lately, she's been getting behind in the count early and shutting down momentum with costly outs. It kills morale to leave runners on base like that.

Well had to work on a toilet (sad right?) for about 30 minutes came back did not seem to miss much. Leach seems to go up looking for walk you could say she is looking for a good pitch but I’ve seen many a ball split the plate and she doesn’t look to do anything with it.

It isn't a lack of talent. The LVs had one of the top defenses in the country, were hitting top to bottom in the order, had quality pitching depth and were beating highly ranked teams. They were having fun and were fun to watch. Now they've dropped three series to lower ranked teams and lost games to teams at the bottom of the conference. Same coaches, same players. Nobody's having fun and it's miserable to watch.

Some people need to look in the mirror and ask themselves, "How do we fix this right now?' Because losing one player-- a FR-- isn't causing the team to completely fall apart and not be able to do anything well.

Rough weekend for the Lady Vol we really need this game today. The hitting slump is getting to long break out girls make it happen.
we have played our way out of hosting a super regional . Lose today and got to sweep TAM and not even sure we can do that. OM has out cared, out hustled, out coached and out played us from the GIT GO. As most of us know the constant craziness of our staff and bewildered the team and a lack of really playing with effort is nearly gone. Not much fire in the belly this last 1/3 of the season. When Leach is lethargic then the team is as well. HB and AR seem to give it their all but I really cant say many more are. JMHO as always!

Some point to the loss of Shipman as the beginning of our team’s struggles, and it certainly didn’t help, but she is a freshman and that was fairly early in the season, and we really will never know how well she would have hit, etc. Also, Phillips got hit in the knee with a pitch, I believe in a TN ST or earlier game, so that may be why she’s not catching. But when you have someone who is truly great at a position, such as Seggern at 3rd base, and start moving her elsewhere, same especially with Leach at 2nd, and others, you’re not only weakening your defense, you’re messing with confidence, and that effects a player’s whole game. When we played Georgia, and had bases loaded and the hit went to Phillips at 3rd, she froze, and got no one out, Seggern would not have even had to think, she’s that quick and experienced at 3rd. Phillips even apologized to Seggern after the play, while she was still holding the ball. The bases loaded homer by GA happened after that. Yet it’s not Phillips’ fault. There were other games with “mistakes” made by people on defense who were just not experienced and confident at their position. This shuffling of players has lost games, and players have lost confidence, and it shows.
