Tennessee Softball

Guess I should not watch live more often!! Maybe this will give everyone more confidence hitting. On to Ole Miss.

Did a little research on Kaitlin Parsons since she is now leading the team in batting average at .429. Before April 7th ( game 2 of Auburn series) Parsons had a .343 BA, since then she is hitting 15-28 (.535 BA) with 9 BB, 7 RBI, and 1 HR. Her OBP during this time has been .648. I remember Ralph and Karen saying how she reminded them of Sarah Fekete (who led the NCAA with a .500 BA her senior year), and if she keeps this up we might have our next great leadoff hitter.

And she seems to have little trouble staying in the box!

Parson has perfect footwork for a slapper and also has some power to rip one to the outfield occasionally. I can see her leading off and being the second baseman next season. Holcomb still having some trouble watched her footwork in this game and although the stepout was not as obvious there was a few pitches where she was borderline out of the box. According to the rule they could've called her out on three or four pitches foot was on the chalk and beyond.

Parsons has really hit well. Her defense has been shaky, but Leach use to make one to two errors a game it seem early on so she needs to work on the fielding she is a smooth hitter and I don't even like slappers as a whole.

A stat that surprised me was Ashley Morgan has struck out only 10 times in 123 at bats. She is hitting .292 but has a .371 obp. She has less strikeouts per at bat than anyone on the team except Holcomb who has only 5 strikeouts but not as many at bats. She has improved overall from her freshman season. She has been in a huge slump lately in SEC play looks like someone that could develop into a very dependable player as a junior and senior.

Great defense and needs to hit for more power but a little slump now.

Good news! The Ole Miss softball website is now showing the first two games on Watchespn and the Sunday is on ESPNU
Looks like the schedule threw us a curve ball and we swing and missed by believing it. Guess we really are Tennessee fans.
