I've seen some comments about walking Sikes in the 7th. It's not about who has more power. The tying run was already on 3rd and the winning run was on 2nd. A long single would have won the game. A sac fly would have tied it. Any batter with any power could do that. Sikes is a .240 hitter, O'neal a .250 hitter. No difference. You load the bases to get a force at every base. A force play at home on a grounder is much easier than a tag play at home. Also, with 1st base open you have no shot at a ground ball double play. You load the bases and you have a shot at a game ending double play. O'neal had hit into 2 ground ball double plays this year. Not that likely, but possible. You give yourself more ways and easier ways to get that 2nd out. It was good luck to get the line drive double play. Correct strategy in my opinion.
