Tennessee Softball

Somehow she has become Gregg is Gregg now Hayley. Ralph kept putting her out there and in year four she has been amazing.
The one thing about Haley from her first game as a freshman she has swung hard!! Most of the time she was swinging at the balls and watching strikes go by. I have rode her and Ralph for 3 years about putting her in to whiff. She come out of that cocoon and skipped the worm cycle and turned to a butterfly. I use to tell my players to swing hard in case they hit it.

Even if we DO score...there's a good chance they walk off with our pitching.

"Our pitching" So the staff that has the third-lowest team ERA in conference games?

The staff that has allowed the fewest runs and hits in the SEC both overall AND in conference games? Please, tell me more.

I mean, there's dumb narratives, and then there's your post.

I've seen some comments about walking Sikes in the 7th. It's not about who has more power. The tying run was already on 3rd and the winning run was on 2nd. A long single would have won the game. A sac fly would have tied it. Any batter with any power could do that. Sikes is a .240 hitter, O'neal a .250 hitter. No difference. You load the bases to get a force at every base. A force play at home on a grounder is much easier than a tag play at home. Also, with 1st base open you have no shot at a ground ball double play. You load the bases and you have a shot at a game ending double play. O'neal had hit into 2 ground ball double plays this year. Not that likely, but possible. You give yourself more ways and easier ways to get that 2nd out. It was good luck to get the line drive double play. Correct strategy in my opinion.

With no softball on last night I watched most of Monica Abbott’s pro Japanese game Friday night. She still dominates the best. Boy can those ladies lay down bunts when needed. Winning run scored on squeeze play that the girl bunted perfectly with the pitch two inches off the ground in extra innings.

Batting practice for my girls was "big field", "little field". If you didn't hit the ball out of the infield, you ran the "big field" foul pole to foul pole!

Yep no brainer!!!

Just started keeping up a little with the softball.

Can someone update me with the current LV record and how they stand in the SEC? Thanks.

I realize overall the pitching for the season has been solid...you can't deny the pitching on this day was very shaky. 12 runs in 13 innings proves that. Nobody had full confidence they were gonna shut them down in the 7th the way they were scoring. That was my point. Thank goodness they got that double play.

You’re smarter than you look. 🙂
