Tennessee Softball 2025

Still to the day it is quite weird how fans belittle and talk crap about transferring players but will hold a pizza party for players that done the same exact thing to their previous team and transfer here. Fans are going to have to learn to deal with the good and the bad in this NIL and transfer portal era.

I’m surprised that there are not more coaching haters liking your post. I hate it that she left. I expect few know the truth about what, who, when and where but Taylor is gone, I’m disappointed but also appreciative of her being a Lady Vol. Good luck Taylor.
I'm just throwing out that there are several reasons to what likely leads to a player leaving. It's not as simple as the player is just not loyal or it's just about the $. Always bodes well to take a good, long look in the mirror before blaming everything and everyone else.

This transfer isn’t as simple as Nelson (who around the circuit is shady) reaching out to gauge interest and Taylor leaving Tennessee for Lubbock. Two sides to every story that has led up to today...was she happy here overall, was she getting the support for the masters program, was she getting a generous offer to return. Other factors to weigh than just playing 3B for Tennessee.

Pannell left because of $$ pure and simple. She was signed and gone months ago.

Don't know her specific situation, but generally there are so many factors. And remember these players are friends. How did she perceive Tanner, Kirkpatrick, Rodriguez, Brown, etc, etc being treated? It all matters. Even if someone gives you a good deal, if they aren't straight up with the people around you it tarnishes the relationship. From the outside looking in, fans don't know these details. We only know what we hear in interviews and the slant by the media....which is why after all this bad press w Pannell, they immediately re-released the article about the #2 recruiting class coming in.

regarding tanner, kirkpatrick, rodriguez, brown etc. and their perceived relationships, every team has players who will not play. only 9 girls can play. every team has girls who play very minimal throughout the season. i’m 100% sure karen was straight up with them about their roles this year. there’s also competition for roles on the team, and if someone outplays you, that’s on you. anyone who think TP didn’t leave bc of the money is silly. that’s why she left. she was happy at UTK and loves UTK but that money is going to set her up nicely after college is done. it sucks, but u really can’t do much about it. she did what was better for her. move on from it.

Why had all of a sudden this conversation went to blaming Tennessee for pannell leaving when nothing even close to that has been said. It’s pretty obvious she left more more $ and you can’t fault the girl for that.

it also would be different if we were the only fanbase complaining about this but my twitter is FULL of fans from teams across softball complaining about how T. Tech is operating. heck, there’s a ton of softball coaches across the divisions scratching their head at the TP and T. Tech situation. very popular news in the softball world rn.

T Tech is operating in the new world that was established for college athletics. 🤷‍♀️ Does it suck?....ABSOLUTELY. But whoever didn't see this coming is naive. And it will get worse.

which makes me sad bc this completely takes mid major teams out of the conversation of competitions every single year. this is doing a lot more harm to teams than good. buying a championship is lame IMO.

Because this is pro-Tennessee board. I’ve heard from both sides from people I trust in the matter and a lot of truth to how it was started and a lot of things not mentioned here about Tennessee’s part. I don’t fault Tennessee for being upset and I don’t fault Taylor for leaving.

Agree. It does merit taking a good long look, research it all you can and weigh carefully the opinions of people who don't like the coaches or players. It won't take long to figure out who's spreading falsehoods to influence you come over to their camp and whose not.

The landscape as a whole will change. Mid-Majors will slowly disband baseball and softball programs in Northern/Mid-West areas. Better weather states with D2/3 NAIA and JUCO will benefit maybe for the short term.

which IMO is a net negative for the sport. those girls deserve to play on those teams. the NCAA did not properly think any of this through. NIL is a beautiful thing, but they have to fix it.

If you're not cheating then you're not trying.. if you can't beat them, then join them.

Agree 100%. There should have been parameters in place before the first deal was established. Too many loopholes that are taken advantage of from state to state that applies.

When was the decision to transfer made by HER and not her father or friends? No doubt there was tampering but before you label her, doesn't it matter when she decided to take the offer? Was it months ago or a couple of weeks ago? Won't matter to some but it would answer some questions I had.

To me, it’s less about her leaving and more about her and her new school not being honest about it. She’s been planning to transfer since March apparently. And that’s not right. Also, she told Karen in her end of season interview that she wasn’t planning on leaving. Tech did us dirty and so did she and I will die on this hill. I don’t wish her well. That’s how I feel and I stand by it. I don’t fault her for taking more money, but if you’re going to do that, be honest about it with your coaches and teammates and don’t be shady. I can only wonder what her former teammates think about all this.

I've read where fans have used the word "tampered or tampering". Well that's not true there's no rules against contacting anyone during the season through their agent or representative...

A little over a year ago during the WCWS, OrangePark was with Huecker (Louisville Slugger) and told the board Canady was heading to OU. Nobody thought too much about it because she was Canady and elevated Stanfords program. Fast forward she hits the portal and OU is at the front money and all looks like a done deal. OU backs away because of how it looks with timing and Texas Tech goes all in financially on her.

LOL ok 👌

Same DP that took down his “no”’post when it was coming out the Pannell was transferring. I have no issues with DP posting his views after the fact as we agree on a lot of things and disagree on a lot as well. The bold bothers you the most as you’re understanding more and more my families connection to many of them since 12-16U. You don’t have to like it, not all of us can post pictures on game-day but can actually speak to many of those in the pictures directly.

Sad is your animosity towards anyone who doesn’t subscribe to your view. As seen by your constant attacks to others here since mid-season. You can’t point to a post where I’ve said Karen needed to be fired since taking over the helm and you can’t point to a post about a player. So that’s character, but you repeat it. Ignore is for weak people who only want to hear their own views echoed. By the way, only one of us has had post removed for their anger. But you’re sweet to believe I have feelings for you one way or the other. One of us post what we hear and know while the other is looking for friends. I have plenty of friends.
Yeah, she told one of her teammates “No, that’s ridiculous” when it was posted on here that she was leaving. That player’s parent relate to me, and I posted it. About six hours later, that player’s parent let me know that everyone had been lied to. So I did delete it, at that person’s request.

I just saw the tampering article come across my Google feed. This seems shocking that an All-American would transfer to Texas Tech. It must be the same thing they did to Stanford last year.
